If you find that the impeller seal leaks (after been rebuild), you need to add/remove shims 29-32 so that sufficient pressure is applied to the impeller output shaft seal.

The impeller has .100" worth of spring "travel". The shims need to be added so that you have applied pressure to the middle of that range (.050) once fully assembled.
