[QUOTE=05TurboS2k,Oct 13 2008, 09:59 AM] AGAIN FORGET PSI!!!!!!

HP/TQ is what matters.

Like I stated above 200ft/lbs is stressful on the motor, stock is like what 160ft/lbs or less?

^ find anything you want hard or easy to believe...... I know what you mean, and I could agree w/ you to a certain degree but, we're talking about DD or a drag machine or what? For me I expect Daily Driver dependability outa my car.
MAX tq.... for HOW many miles? I bet it'll hold 450ft/lbs for..... 5 minutes.

IAT helps for detonation...and does NOTHING for the bottom end which is why tq is an issue. So assume your getting cold intake temps which is fantastic for power, and gonna make even more TQ (which is bad imo for your situation) so detonation issue gets better but then again, we all know we can make more power on stock CR then is safe for the motor in many cases.

Fully spooled 12psi like your talking at 4k is major on a stock motor man. even at 5k thats a lot of stress. I don't care what anyone says, talk of doubling the stock tq and expecting it to be fine isn't reasonable on a motor already as stressed as the F20/22c.

A tuner can tune your motor safely WELL above what the stock bottom end is good for.

So while I completely agree you can do it safely....it won't be safe on the bottom end, you'll loose longevity, that's what I'm saying.

(edited the post above with more details)

I'd be bummed to see you post 6mo from now with a bottom end issue

I see thanks for the help, now I see why people go out and by vettes, a ton of power without the "modding" headache

Im gonna try to make over 300ft/lb on a stock HG and internals, I know it can be done....you have to know what you are doing. I had a miata that had stick rods, cast pistons, a cast crank etc...engine made 96whp stock. I got it to make 296whp and 270 ft/lb on stock internals for 3 years, then it boost spiked to 26psi and killed it. I know its not an F20C but the F20 not only is a better engine but it is stronger internally.

All this talk makes me really happy I chose to SC = more safe power in the upper rpms where it counts. Ultimately once you shift out of first gear its all about what you have between 6k-9k rpms anyway. If I had to pick, I would rather make more safe power between this rpm then between 3k-6k rpm

Its a 4 banger anyway, not a 6 or 8. Understand the strengths and weaknesses of a 4 banger and enhance the strengths, enhancing on the weaknesses is expensive and begging for headaches. I like the power curve of a SC 4 cylinder, much more exciting and fun to drive. If I wanted the power characteristics of a v8 I would be driving with one.

Thats what I use to tell myself when I was comptech supercharged...

Then I got my turbo kit and that all went out the window.

hard on the engine or not, i love having 220+ ft lbs of torque at 4000-6000 rpms

i dont race people on the highway or goto the drag strip... i just drive my car around town, 95% of the time being in that 4-6k rpm sweet spot..

if my engine life is dramatically shortened, so be it!
