From what I gather, turbos are a bit finicky in that you have to change the head gasket, knotch the frame, etc etc.
Not sure where you're getting that from. I have a LoveFab turbo and haven't touched the headgasket or frame.

I should correct myself, it comes with a piggyback type unit. No stand alone engine management is needed.
The Comptech has no piggyback. The Vortech uses a little box to control timing but it does nothing for fuel.

Both systems use a rising rate fuel pressure regulator to upp fuel with boost.

When you say you want Idiot Proof power...I really think that going FI on any NA vehicle is going to require some technical knowledge (even if someone else does the installation). Murphy's Law...you know?

Just becuase no one has stood up for the 2.2 crowd, Go AP2 minus delay valve of course. I hate that damn thing and thank god it is no longer there. he he.

for your father the 2.2 liter may be a better choose because of the increase in torque 10% from 3k till redline and the gear were shortened. Sounds like it would be a better fit for your father.

You can get a used C5 Z06 for less than 40k easily. Just look around.

Suggest a G35 with a s/c as well, might be up his alley.

my .02 Good luck

[QUOTE=Spoolin,Nov 22 2006, 08:31 AM] Yeah if you want to fork out $70k for a new one or $45k for a used C5 Z06. He'd be better off saving $20k and getting a new S and putting FI on it and pulling on Z06's.

[QUOTE=billyjoho,Nov 23 2006, 01:40 PM] It will take a lot more then a S/C S2000 to pull on a Z06.

Yes I've ridden in a new C6 Z06. A very good friend of mine has one and we ran from a 3rd gear role since I don't have sticky tires yet. Lets just say he was looking at a lot of my taillights and breathing my exhaust fumes by the time we hit 140 mph.

Made him pretty upset considering he had about $70k in his and I am roughly around $45k.
Your friend must not be able to drive. The 2006 Z06 is a sub 12 sec 1/4 car. Even the older 04 version is sub 13s Are you sure he was in 3rd and not 5th gear?

When I say idiot proof, I meant nothing mind blowing like custom fabrication, knotching of the frames, having to tune myself... etc etc.

I've done a motor/tranny swap in my wrx so I know my way around, but neither my dad nor I have the means to fab stuff up, cut stuff, or pretty much anything other than bolt on.

Inline Pro is actually local to my dad. After the holidays we'll probably give them a call to see what would need to be done to meet my dads goals. If all that needs to be done to the motor is replace the head gasket, then maybe my dad and I can do the installation ourselves.

How do you guys suggest going about this? I think my dad would like the AP1 (that's the 2.0 9k motor right?). Would it be better to go with a low milage car, or a cheaper high milage car if we have to break the block?
