Your friend must not be able to drive. The 2006 Z06 is a sub 12 sec 1/4 car. Even the older 04 version is sub 13s Are you sure he was in 3rd and not 5th gear?
Just so you know, my S is a mid to high 11 sec. 1/4 mile car.
You don't need a headgasket if you're going turbo unless you want to boost more than 9 - 9.5 pounds of boost. You can get to the 350 rwhp mark with the bolt on inlinepro kit and tuned to 9 pounds.

I'm not saying I believe you...I'm just saying that if your S2000 is really in the 11s you either must be under the hood making it run and fixing stuff all the time, or you have really big buck$$ to have someone else do it. I would say it takes about 500+ RWHP to get in the sub 12s 1/4. Not to many S2000s make 500+ RWHP (especially ones that can be driven on the street). And you must have some kind of body kit as you will need 315(or wider) street tires or you could be running slicks.
Some of the fastest S2000s on the street are Sidways and Gregs. Sideways is making in the area of 450 RWHP and his S2000 is damn Fast. But it's no sub 12s car, I think he is in the sub 13s or right at 13s. Greg's 2000 is Turbo with around 330 RWHP and 285 ft lbs torque and he is right at 13s.

Sideways is the fastest SCed S2k on these boards but by no means nearly ONE of the FASTEST s2ks here. I'm not saying anything bad towards him, but we have quite a few 450rwhp+ s2ks here (turboed of course).
Hell there are 2 turboed s2ks right around me that both ran 11's. They are in the high 400 range I believe.
but fwiw, the fastest s2k was like a 10.xx and its ~750rwhp. Your post should have been it takes a LOT of power to break into 10's but not nearly as much to break 12's. Hell a stock vortech can hit high 12's and thats just a SC

It does not take 500 + to get into the sub 12's. It takes way less than that w/ a halfway decent driver.and defenitely not that crazy size tire. If I could've spared my street tires I would've run my 265 35 18 but I opted to get cheaper drag radials which are merely 245 in width and those are the ones I ran 11.7 with, and that being my very first run.
And I believe you meant to say some of the fastest S/Ced S2000's?
If Sideways can only go sub 13's with 450rw then there is a problem there but I believe he can and there is no reason why he couldn'tbe in the mid 12's at least. Unless of course there are numbers out there that I don't know about.
