Default if dropping clutch = broken diff

im putting this under fi because i wouldnt think n/a would have this problem.

i know that the diff is weak and will brake if you drop the clutch to launch.

but what if i was on the freeway doing like 50 and downshift into 2nd?

im going to be running a 6puck with fidanza flywheel, either 9lb or 11lb pulley.

with that much power on a 2nd/3rd gear down shift racing or whatnot, will that

brake something? i would have to guess it would still put alot of strain on it since

its alot of power is going to be transfered and esp with the 6 puck act clutch.

My only words of experience here:
I have a '66 mustang with a newer 4spd auto w/shift kit. I came up behind a semi doing about 45mph one time and went to pass and when I pass I like to just get around quickly rather than take my time so I shove the pedal most of the way to the floor. The tranny shifted down one gear and I tok off and was beside the semi doing probably about 65mph when I stepped on the pedal a little more and the tranny shifted down another gear, and I took off around the semi and was just merging back into the lane when I heard a huge clunk and the engine revved up really high. There was more clunking and I pulled over as soon as I could and discovered my driveshaft twisted like a pretzel and snapped in the middle. What sucks is with the driveshaft flying around, it put a whole in my floor ! Anyways, the point is that downshifting and taking off does put a lot of stress on drivetrain components and theoretically you could break the S2000 diff. the way you are talking about with enough power. The reason I mentioned the shift kit is because that is similar to the 6 puck setup you are talking about in that it will instantly send power through the drivetrain rather than slip slightly like stock clutches/automatics trannies do.

Revmatch and you'll be fine. There won't be any more strain that regular full-throttle acceleration.

Here's the criteria for being ok (you have to excellent driving skills):
1) Never misshift.
2) "Perfect" double clutch skills.

If you don't meet that criteria you'll break things. It won't be the diff, it'll be the transmission first. That type of scenario is harder on the transmission than diff.

The reason I mention this is a friend drove my car and did not meet that criteria and blew out my synchros.

I went through 3 trannys and 2 diffs on a stock 00 S just by dropping it into 2nd at 50 all the time and launching.
