IF ONLY WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE
Took my stage 3 Rotrex supercharger conversion to the track today. With great expectations. I'd run a 12.4/114 with my st2 kit. Now I have the C38 blower on and I fitted the Mickey T Street ET's, they set the back end up a bit high as the rolling radius was up on the stock tyres. Did my first run, 12.8/105mph. The car felt very unstable at speed and I didn't get much grip off the line. It was quite frightnening.
I progressively let the rear tyre pressures down and got more and more grip and it felt more and more stable as the back end sat lower. 4th run I pulled a 1.78 60 ft and a 21.13/118 terminal into a 40 mph head wind. I was getting confident of an 11.
The car had hit a false rev limit on the 12.1 run as the boost cut was set marginally to low, I realised the problem and upped the boost cut. Queued up again, it rained and there was a long down time. Racing started again, but the track was not so good, temps were down and the grip wasn't there. I let the rears down from 19 to 14 psi to try and find some grip. Did a big burn out. Launched as hard as I could but the tyres lit up, the car rear went out to the right, I shifted up and the rear shot left, I tried to correct but it was to late, The back left corner smacked the wall square on the rear wheel. Game over. Trailered the car home. I need a new rear wing, wheel, brake disc, and suspension arms at least. So disappointed. That's racing. Still I can't complain. I've drag raced cars and bikes since 1972 and this is my first crash.
I was in the left lane, if I was in the right I wouldn't have hit the wall. Shit happens!
