Default Intake Manifold Gasket

I was looking at intake manifold gaskets available for the S and I normally opt for the trusted and tried brand such as hondata. I noticed that p2r makes a IMG for the S2000 and was wondering if anybody has had experience with them. I tried to search but i didnt really find much about the P2R IMG. A buddy of mine uses it on his 30r RSX and hasn't had any problems.

Anybody have experience with P2R IMG or does everyone usually just go for the Hondata? Trying to decide which to buy. Or hell.. ebay has a lot of other no name cheapo IMGs has anybody tried those? I dont really trust it, but if its proven to work then I may give it a try.

Thanks in advance.

The ebay ones are proven to melt Make sure you follow the torqueing/install process to a T, there have been many people that I've read though searches that end up with coolant leaks.

Yeah I figured ebay ones were crappy. Thats why the main part of this thread was on the P2R ones. They're a bit cheaper then the Hondata gaskets, so I was wondering if there was a downside to the price difference.

p2r is $35 on ebay shipped
Hondata is like $55 shipped

have yet to check else where. I usually go to ebay first as a general idea of pricing before actually searching for better prices.

Stick with the stock intake gasket. I had the Hondata and thought I blew the HG but it ended up being the Hondata gasket leaking coolant into one of my cylinders and causing air to get in the system and the engine to overheat. I had to pull the head anyway to get it built but as soon as we got the head off and saw the HG, we knew right away that it wasn't blown and the Hondata was causing the problems. It doesn't like the heat from boosted engines and the bolts tend to loosen up all the time. I found 3 pretty loose after having it on the car for 5 years and when I first put it on, I retorqued the bolts quite a few times after the install and many heat cycles. I thought it was good to go after all this until I went to pull the intake manifold just before pulling the head and low and behold, 3 bolts were loose. IMO, its a good mod for NA applications but not for turbo. Just leave it the way Honda designed it with the coolant flowing through the manifold and you won't have a problem. On a boosted car, I don't think the Hondata gasket is going to make any improvements over staying with the stock gasket setup. Hope this helps.

Thanks I'll keep that in mind.
Anybody else have a problem with this on a boosted motor?
