Not if you're going to run the NHRA Get Screened Pro Mod series.

Yw...i had my own reasons why i didnt like precision turbos but after that im now 100 percent sure i will never buy one of those turbos
Never owned a Garrett but PTE's are great new.
My 5857 billet did need a rebuild after 12k miles but that might have been attributed to some oil starvation incidents.
Can really complain though since the turn around time was 24 hours & they sent back overnight shipping for free.

i dont think the major problems with turbos are with small frame pte turbos..how ever what i did notice on some if not all precision turbos the leak alot of oil out the front of the turbo when under boost....ive witness this for myself

Precision has had good years and bad years. I have a Precision turbo, but I did it because it allowed me to run something a bit more custom than I could get from Garrett (a 67mm compressor in a small T04E cover). Turbonetics has also had good and bad years. It seems to go with the territory for many of these aftermarket turbo manufacturers.

It's hard to beat OEM, to me that is the best reason for running Garrett or Borg Warner. The amount of testing and design that goes into an OEM product is very rarely matched in the aftermarket. That doesn't necessarily make the aftermarket turbos bad, it just makes them less of a sure thing. Additionally, I don't trust turbos that don't have compressor and turbine maps... That's like building a house without blueprints.
