Per Jon from TRE.......The stock tranny is good for 200 wtq at 2 million cycles. When you start to go over that, the amount of cycles the tranny is good for drops. For instance, double the wtq and you cut the cycles in half to 1 million. Meaning, if the stock tranny is good in an NA S for say, 20,000 miles of hard beating abuse at 150 wtq (about what this car makes) and you double the wtq to 300, you cut the amount of hard beating on miles in half and down to 10,000. Add another 150 wtq to 450 wtq and it cuts it in half again to 5000 hard beating on miles, etc etc.

You also have to remember, the longer you run around at 250-300 wtq, the weaker the gears get over that time. Youre using up your cycles or hrs the tranny can support that amount of wtq.

I have had this stock tranny in my car since I bought it new in 03 with 40 miles on it. I went turbo at 3000 miles and my tranny finally gave up at 15k miles, thats 12k miles of boost. Thats 2 years at 300 whp/200 wtq and about 5000 miles, 2 years at 400 whp/300 wtq and about 5000 miles and 2 years at 550+whp/400+ wtq and about 2000 miles. Mine lasted for quite a while with quite a bit of abuse without no lifting or dig racing on it.

There are differences from the AP2 vs the AP1 tranny, where I would say its worth a bit more.

The synchros are different.

Thats what I've been told as well, however I've never personally seen the differences.

its cool. but you loose 6 speed guess it aint that big a deal. just would be nice to keep our trans case, mod the gears and ratios, keep 6 forward gears, and it be under 4k for the parts and labor. 10k plus for that is just BS.

So having 4.77 with my turbo car is actually better? I guess it takes some of the load off the tranny. I know its not better in terms of speed, but so far I don't really mind it.

Sorry about your tranny, just bolt on another one.
