Default Just got a free T4

So my buddy gave me one of his turbos that he never used. Its a t4 and its also pretty old but never used. I had a comptech SC kit on my other s2k but sold it due to it was a lemon. I have a 2005 Ap2 and just wants peoples 2 cents on this. I know ima need injectors, fuel pump, clutch, Tuning..etc. plan on going with the Mase manifold, but only want to run 5 lbs for now. I plan on keeping the compression stock but i went to my local speed shop and they said its not safe to run any boost at stock compression due to the engine was built for N/A and if i want to boost i should lower compression to 9.5.. I have a hard time beliving that. I figured 5 lbs should be fine with stock compression my comptech kit had the 5.5 lb pully and it was stock compression with no tune and ran fine. So my question is should i be worried with 5 lbs with stock head gasket and compression? I will go more once the car is paid off but want to stay safe for now. Thanks again

well your local speed shop has no idea what they are talking about, you can run over 10psi all day everyday at stock compression, some people go a lot higher too, and good luck getting a mase manifold, last i heard people were waiting a long time to get theirs

T4 flanged turbo is epic overkill for 5 psi. I run a t4 flanged turbo and my 14 psi is still wek saus on it.

Made Manu is t3 flange anyways. Get the specs for that turbo but my guess is to big. Of u only want light boost get a greddy kit or simple log kit with a 5857 or gt30.

As for this motor. It's stout. That speed shop is s2k ignorant.

Thanks for the input it helps, and yea a t4 does seem like a overkill but its free lol. i can get a t3 also for no cost which may be the route i go with. Im not a fan of log, i do plan on upping the boost after pay off, and yes the shop is very ignorant

I agree about log mani. I'm not a fan either but for guys that want 300-350 whp it's most economical option. However I hight reccomed tubular Mani.

As for 15-20 psi. On e85 or race has then sure.
