Is Kpro the way to go for an ecu?
Hi All,
Thanks again for all the replies and help as I learn what I can about bumping up the power.
I've read a bit aboutAEM version 2 and Infinity. Maybe it’s just fringe bad stuff, but it seems there may be a few glitches. Is Kpro the way to go?
I can swap about the stuff needed. A factory ecu seems like a friendlier and safer option?

For 2005 and lower, if you need to pass emissions, yes, absolutely. Otherwise, no.
For a turbo car without emissions testing, I would run Haltech, AEM, ECU Master, etc. any day over a KPro. KPro is basically a hacked stock ECU where you don't get the same level of control as a real standalone. It's quite a bit better than a piggyback, but well below what a good standalone is capable of.
Edit: I've run AEM series 1, KPro 3, and KPro 4 on my own car. I would love to go back to a real standalone, but have to deal with emissions testing. If I did KPro again, I would use the one with an adapter harness that uses stock sensors rather than replacing my sensors and running auxiliary wiring. Then, if I really wanted to, I could run a real standalone daily and the KPro or factory ECU only for emissions. The KPro crank and cam wiring harness is not very good. I've seen a couple of cars where slight impacts to the harness = no start since the ECU can't sync crank/cam.

I had an issue with my Kpro harness. They did not correctly crimp the pins on to the wires inside the connectors. I would HIGHLY recommend pull testing every single wire on all the connectors before installing it
