Ummm... This pretty much sums up this thread for me.

I like the fact that there is a widespread discussion of pricing/performance/etc of FI products. It is ridiculous that this thread was jacked. No respect on the interwebs...
Which kit would be cheap to recover from a failure with? Was said kit stock?

[QUOTE=Mother,Oct 13 2009, 11:01 AM] If you're going to compare $/hp with SOS, please keep in mind that the 364hp dyno advertised by SOS was with a $1500 header and a $1300 exhaust, bringing the total to around $8200.

- The "problem" pulleys have been updated. My tensioner pulley started making noise after 15,000 miles. KW sent me the updated part and I had it on in less than an hour. People love to exaggerate issues online in some quest for notoriety. I don't get it.

-To safely get more power from an '06+, you need to modify the fuel system. I don't want to. I'm past the days of running -8an lines and making fuel rails. It's a daily driver.

-I *HATE* manual belt tensioning. I do not want to ever have to pop my hood and mess with something because I'm getting belt slip. It's a terrible design and a pain in the ass. And yes, I've dealt with it before. The automatic tensioner sold me on the kit.

-The KW powerband is so much better than the old-school CT ones it isn't funny. I picked up power everywhere.
Your facts are a little off...

-Yes the "problem" pulleys have been updated and while they are better there have still been failures on the updated pulleys. The design is improved but there is still uneven pressure which will result in failure, eventually. The bearings are higher quality and also aid in extending the life of the pulley but again it will fail, eventually.

-You do not need to modify the fuel system to get more power. It has been proven by multiple shops using different dynos that the 06+ returnless fuel system is good to just shy of 500RWHP. Even Jeremy got 471 RWHP on 91 octane on his 2006.

-Automatic tensioning is great but comes with a price. Apparently that price is the water pump pulley. There have been far too many failures of water pump pulleys on KW equipped cars to be a coincidence. Don has the highest mileage of any KW owner, 60K+ on the KW, and is on his third water pump pulley.

I am not trying to down play the KW kit, it's a good kit and has improved since its initial release. It just has a few remaining bugs that once will resolved will make the kit "bulletproof".

Disclaimer: I am a former KW owner.

KW has a new update for the Tensionar Pulley which puts equal pressure on the bearings thus eliminating the problem with the outer bearing failing.

I have had nearly 40k on my kit now. No signs what so ever of Water Pump Pulley failure and believe me i have been checking.

I was one of the first kit owners. I understood that there would be quirks to work out. So far KW has been outstanding with taking care of any issues.

I agree. The kw kit is the best supercharger kit with all things considered.

-Honest, reliable service
-Prompt answered questions
-blower efficiency per pound of boost
-proven performance on the track
-reliable parts

I have this opinion. I dont care how much this costs. Half of the reason people swing from ASM's nuts is because how much it costs. Same with gucci, louis vuitton, chanel, and any other ridiculously marked up product. The price increase assures buyers are passionate about the kit and ARE BUYING IT BECAUSE OF ITS RARE FACTOR. No offense, but everyone has a 300 dollar AEM intake, which honestly makes me not want one. For every customer that doesnt buy it because its cheap, another will buy it simply because its more expensive. Im sorry if some people dont understand this marketing strategy. there is no real competition for the kw kit, their kit is really nothing like any of the others and are basically in their own niche market.

Has anyone seen the horsepower freaks turbo kit for the E46?.... well last time i checked they have it priced at 18,000 dollars. AND FOR WHAT?...... a 400% mark up? yet im sure the allure of the cost entices many buyers. The kit also has a solid reputation as does kraftwerks that can back up every kit they sell.

I had a failure with my kit.... and its costing me over 5,000 in engine mods just to come back from it. Its easy to pick apart a product and place blame on somebody else. Fact is, the kit very reliable but not perfect. The argument that it only makes 360hp is absurd. An AEM intake only makes 10hp. Some people want 10 extra hp, some people want 160 extra hp, and some people want 800 hp. Thats like saying an AEM intake sucks because itdoesnt make 800 hp. the purpose of the kit is NOT to make the most horsepower on the planet and BREAK every dyno in california with its power. Its too accentuate the already fun to drive car.

I think they could charge 8 grand and I would be fine with it. If I couldnt afford it then I would get something else. You are paying for an idea.... not all the plastic parts in the box. If you think you can make your own kit for 500 less, then go to home depot and fab up your own!!!!!!

Either u pay the asking price or go home. Its the manufacturers job to select their target audience. I could make a kit and sell it for 10 bucks, and not a damn person would buy it. So saying a price decrease would increase kit sells is LUDACRIS!.

I love this blower.... and KW is a great company. Period!!
Great post, juntuned! Love it or leave!

30k miles on my 2007 S2000 high boost kit. All problems minor and immediately addressed with new parts from Kraftwerks.

Went to their shop in Norco in March 2009 and drank beers with them after a tour.

I would have no qualms with buying this kit a second time considering the great customer service I have had to date.

Question for you guys with water pump pulley failures: Did you overtighten the bolts? The failure pattern is reminiscent of crushing the metal under the bolt heads. I torqued mine correctly on initial installation. I just checked the pulley today. I have no cracks whatsoever emanating from the bolt holes.

OH, YEAH, The performance is "kick ass", too.
