Looking for input on S/C
Hello
I have an 06 with 131k on it. As far as I know these engines are fully forged from the crank up. I have never had a FI car. My last car was a stroked B16 12.5:1 . Well now I’m looking to go FI. Being that I am new to FI I figure let’s just jump all in both feet first. I intend to purchase a Kraftwerks kit install it and have it Dyno tuned. I understand that I will want an oil cooling system and a larger rear diff cover along with a heftier clutch. I also got an 06 for the flash pro compatibility. So from all that. Should I jump into it or is 131 to high mileage. It’s not my daily either.

I supercharged at 120k on my 06 which was otherwise bonestock apart from a few bolt ons. Currently at 125k and it’s been holding up great so far. Didn’t upgrade the diff in any way other than fluids, trans is stock, clutch is ACT/OEM, no external oil cooling but that is on the list, and I made 410 on E85. My current priority is to upgrade to a Full Blown 340lph pump (currently have Walbro 255) because I’m hitting 100% injector duty around 7500rpm.

Just jump in. Half the stuff you mentioned you dont absolutely need either like the oversized diff case and oil cooler. You will want to upgrade your clutch however. The factory bottom end is very strong and should hold any power the kw kit will put you at. I say if its not broke, dont attempt to fix it. If youre set on KW read up on some older threads regarding their kits. It seems the first generation kits had some problems with belt failures.

I put an early version of the KW kit on my '06 at about 115k miles. It now has 125k miles. I track the car so I have an oil cooler. No issues with the car. You will need a clutch upgrade. The most popular is stock disk with a ACT HD pressure plate.
I have had some issues with the kit. I have broken the VTEC mounting bolts several times and now have ARP bolts in time-sert steel thread inserts. Some people seem to have issues with this and others don't. I have also broken the SC belt. The early kits had a 20mm wide belt. The current ones have a 30mm belt. I changed to the 30mm belt have had no issues with it.
I like the kit. Mine is a semi-daily driver.

Cool thanks guys I really appreciate the advice a lot . I fully intend on going back to a BC stroker kit and sleeves and all that good stuff I just wanted some advice and y’all gave me really good advice and I appreciate it. I think it’s better to learn on a factory motor that way if and when it does pop it’s not a huge huge loss it’s more of a learning experience. So given the mileage any advice on lbs? This car is not my daily by any means however I’m in the army so there are literally thousands of mustangs and STIs rolling around and I’d like to keep them honest.

If you havne't done so already, perform a leakdown and compression test to see where your engine stands. At 120k my valve guides were loose and some valves were not completely sealing (had to do some headwork and recut the seat).
