Looking for a solution
Hi guys I have a 2003 S2k SC and a stand alone ECU. In the past I have had a guy who could make the car pass smog but now he is telling me that with the new smog laws, the car is passed when the tester reads the stock ECU and the vin's match. Now with the AEM it won't read like a stock unit. Has anyone heard of this or is this guy BSing me?. I need to get the ride passed anybody out-here??

Not sure what state you’re in, but I need to say first. Stay calm, you’ll get the car passed. You just need to find the right place. And yes, the aem doesn’t use the cars obd2 so you’ll never be able to plug in like a normal inspection would do.
You need the OEM computer. They're now checking the CVN / calibration ID numbers from the computer. If it's been reflashed and altered, the car won't pass. You may be able to run the Infinity as a piggyback or to swap back and forth, but no matter what you need a factory ECU.

Tell me you don't know what communism is, without telling me you don't know what communism is.
OP, your best bet in that state is to either put everything back to stock pre-smog (like some friends i know do) or find a shop that can pass you. But, I don't think the latter is even an option anymore.
