Posting this here because the problem started when I had the turbo installed. Happens on cold starts only. When I turn key to ignition but before I start the motor, I sometimes hear a loud POP. Sounds like a balloon popping. Doesn't seem to affect anything, just curious if anyone has heard the same noise.

Car is an 01 with a custom T3/T4 kit on a log manifold. Air pump is removed of course. Not sure what other info might be helpful in diagnosing.

I could only think of the fuel pump doing it, since you say the motor was not started. If it happens during ignition on position and motor NOT started yet. At that point, the fuel pump primes, so I would look into that.

I've never heard of anything like this, but that's the only thing i can think of.

 

Are you running aftermarket injectors and a standalone? My car does the samething with rc injectors.

It's normal with the aem ems. Many people on the boards including myself have this "problem"

Never had this problem. I hear the pump prime but that's it.

 

I have an AEM EMS. Mine used to pop as well. It seemed to have stopped popping after re-installing my fuel rail for another reason (I am not saying that resolved it).

 

Yep, mine does it too. No idea what causes it though.

 

Strange. I have aem v2 and I haven't heard this yet. At least you know your not the only one.
