love fab turbo kit
I work at 2NRWERKS in tampa, we've been doing alot of S2K's lately and everything has been pretty straight forward. Untill now. We currently have a love fad turbo kit with a GT35R turbo. I just wanted to list the good and the bad about it. I have to hand it to Cody, the guy can weld! No doubt about the craftsmanship, it's top notch. However fitment is definetly not there.
The charge pipe angles don't line up very well at all, it's pretty much relying on the couplers to line everything up. the CP was full of metal shavings from fabrication, I had to let them soak in the parts washer to get everything out. The Charge pipe from the TB down to the Intercooler pipe has to be extended to fit. None of the charge pipe has a rolled edge or bead to hold the couplers on. The turbo Manifold has some issues clearing the stock coolant hose conections for the old oil cooler. I see some melted coolant lines and heat soak as a major issue. heat soak on the hood, and on the heater core hoses on the fire wall. I have fab'd a heat sheild between the battery, fuse box, AC lines, and heater core hoses and down tube. I think it should help with the longevity of everything.
Our first down tube was 4 inch, fitment and ground clearance was terrible. So Cody sent us a new 3 inch down tube and it fits much better. Clearancew between it and the manifold is paper tight, but it has no ground clearnce issues and it doesn't hit the tranny or the frame rail. Now the problem with it is the V band flange that attaches to the turbo is warped. You can tell it was heated a little to much on one side. Needless to say its about a 1/8 inch gap between it and to top side of the turbo flange.
The last thing that i don't like about the set up is the rats nest of braided line for everything. The oil cooler, filter relocator, feed and return line, and coolant hoses. To me it just doesn't look good. One concern of mine is the volume of oil that the stock pump has to move has easily doubled. Life of the oil pump and oil starvation are concerns of mine.
Once again, i am not trying to bash anyone, The craftsmanship is awesome, the fitment stinks. in my opinion everything looked really cool in the trunk, not under the hood.

You seem to have hit the nail on the head with just about every problem that I addressed when I installed my GT1 kit. First off, yes, Cody does great fab work, but the fitment on some stuff is, well, "custom" for lack of a better word.
I also needed to extend my charge piping about 2" from the TB to the IC (I think this is because he doesn't have AC in his car and doesn't leave any room for slack), as well as I replaced the coolant line that runs along the side of the block on the side of the manifold with a 90 degree bend and a new line. I also got the IC piping beaded, which I thought was strange, and yes, they blew off without being beaded, and the clamps were so tight that the pipes were starting to bend. I also swapped out most of the oil lines for ones that actually bended without kinking with the slightest bend with new fittings as well since the other lines had pressed fittings. So, there were a few things that needed to be changed or modified. Overall, am I happy with the kit? Yes, I think its the best turbo kit available, but to think that you will just slap it on the car and go, well, not really. There is some work and headaches involved, but i'm sure that anyone who wants to go turbo knows this already.

I have helped Rick (op) with the install on this kit. I myself have the old kit Lovefab sells with the mini-me manifold. While I love the look and performance of the sidewinder manifold, after working on getting it in the car I have to say that I am looking elsewhere for a new manifold. Again it's not a question of craftsmanship on the welds, it's all about the fitment and lack of thought process in the design. I mean the whole point to buying a kit is so you don't have to spend hours figuring out how to get it to fit, or spend time fabricating brackets or heatshields. Everthing you need should be in the box. Speaking of which, I just had to shell out $1200 on a new turbo because there was no oil restrictor sent to me on the feed line...can you say blow seals? All in all I have been really disappointed in my Lovefab experiance. While the extra HP is nice, I had zero problems with my supercharger on the car. Now it's on jack stands more than it is on the road.
I had to wait a few extra weeks on my kit because he said he was addressing some problems with the charge pipes. I assume the problem of it being to short is what he fixed before he sent out the latest batch. Guess I'll find out when I'm able to install it.
I sent my money to Cody over a month and a half ago, and I have been getting told my stuff will ship by the end of the week for the past 4 weeks. I have thus far cancelled 2 separate tuning sessions, and my tuner is now gone till June. I am gonna be pretty upset if after the price I paid and the time I have waited , this stuff still has fitment issues. I thought Lovefab was the way to go, but I am really disappointed with the run-around I have gotten after he has had my money since March 23. I know that this business boomed very fast, but I sincerely hope that the customer service and quality of Lovefab don't suffer because of it. My UR kit, while not compararble in quality, fit correctly out of the box and I have had no problems with it at all. I guess I'm to blame for wanting more power.

Does this break any elses heart to hear this?
The general feeling on this forum has been that the Lovefab kit is the holy grail of S2000 forced induction. At least this is what I have gathered in my almost one year as a member.
I guess the only thing I can say in defense of all of these problems is that the kit is truly "custom" and with that you will have a number of "issues". It's not like InlinePro where they can cast 200 identical manifolds at a time.
I still think that if you have the money (and a little patience
) Lovefab is your best option for a truly awesome FI package. The best come to those who wait. Look how long it takes to get a Ferrari or a Lamborghini.
