Lovefab or Comptech for MY04...?
I want to get more power for my s and is debating if I should go with lovefab turbo or comptech supercharger...
Comptech supercharger seems pretty good...especially on the 04's as it makes decent power starting from 4k on up. But then there's lovefab. Their kit looks pretty good with aem ems. I know there's no such thing as a true bolt-on turbo kit...but this kit might just work. However, the only drawback for lovefab is that it's not carb legal.
I'm not sure yet whether I want to go FI this year or not...I was originally planning this for next year, so I'm just doing some research right now...
I'm not planning on drag racing or street race my car...but my goal is to make over 300hp (to the wheels) 200lbs+ of torque and be able to run low 13's or high 12's.

As for the hp and tq figures, you'll get those with a bolt on SC kit and it's a fairly simple process. You'll also get that, and a lot more potential with one of the better turbo kits (and tinker's looks good) but it's a bigger investment and commitment.
I went SC because it was fairly simple and have built from there I will shortly go turbo.

Since you live in Chicago carb is so important to you

The good thing is, youre only about 5-6 hours from me if you wanted a nice professional install :-d

Unless by 'drag racing' you mean driving whilst wearing a dress I think you might be contradicting yourself here.
Sounds a bit goofy to me, too. If you aren't going to "race" the car, then why care about the numbers?
I went with the Comptech SC because of the longevity of the kit with the car. Additionally the CARB EO that's required here in Sunny SoCal.
I local member is SERIOUSLY considering the LovFab kit.
I agree that if he gets the setup it will run a better looking power curve as the boost is more readily available at a lower rpm where a SC gets most of it's boost at higher RPMs.
The point can be argued but I'm a firm believer that a Turbo kit will significantly wear down stock internals at a quicker rate than a SC all things being equal including the driving style.
Good luck on whatever you decide.

If both are engines are putting down the same number, they will wear just the same. The engine parts dont really know/care whats attached to the motor, they just care how much pressure is applied because of the new-found torque. EGTs may be slightly higher with turbo, but most of the supercharger graphs Ive seen are running in the 13:1 AFR range, which is producing A LOT of heat, probably more than my turbo setup is right now.Yes, the turbo will produce MUCH more low-end torque, which may lead to slightly more load on bearings, etc, but dayumn it sure is fun
I predict I'll see 50,000 miles before any problems, IF ANY will show themselves. There was 23,000 miles on the car when it went under the knife, and Im at 30,500 so far...Not attacking or anything, I guess I sorta contradicted myself, but turbos do not destroy motors when things are tuned properly.

The member I'm talking about is moving from a 9lb pulley, EMS and 650cc injectors.
So in his case It's pretty safe to say that I think he is going to be running more than the standard boost setup for the kit.
I told him I'd let him run the kit first........if it doesn't blow up I'll trade my SC for a turbo...
