Hey guys, finally finished install the kit and got her started ( special thanks to Timg for the great basemap). after about 15 minutes of street tuning (not even boosting yet), pretty much all the wires on the vtec solenoid and bottom side of the fuze box got melted. Do any of you guys have samilar problem?

My installer did tie the wires on the vtec solenoid away from the manifold, also moved the fuze box all the way to the edge of the engine bay like execlipse did on his. We also warpped the downpipe with heat warp and used a heat logic turbo blank for the tubine side.

sorry to hear about your bad luck, I am doing lovefab install also, it took us 4 weeks, hopefully we will start it next week. I made a shield for turbo hotside and replace oem healshield with another. I hope thats enough. Is the wire touching anything.

It's not touching anything and we actually moved it away and it still got melted.

Can I ask you GT1 guys a question?

By looking at the pictures of the manifold before you purchased it, did you ever ask your self how clever it is to run a 3 or 4 inch DP across the whole engine bay and not melt/burn anything?
The manifold makes tons of power, but it should come with a reasonable heatshield.

Just my 2cent.

I have the Version1 and melted things left and right, took me 1 year to make that wanna-be kit a kit.

Sup bro! I had a similar issue with my Inlinepro kit. Here was my post https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...0&#entry8362797

Good luck!

Everyne running a GT1 kit will have this problem without heatshielding of some sort. My advice is to go to Ace hardware and get some aluminum flashing and make a shield for anything that is within 10 inches of the piping that could melt. Wires, plastic, battery...anything you don't want fried.

And this goes for any turbo kit and even headers...remember, exhaust gases are over 1000*, and it's not uncommon to see piping temps around 800.

You didnt warp the dp you wrap correct, I wrap my DP too I just dont it warp from wrapping. So your heat source is the manifold, Gt1 itselft damn that thing must be red hot. As for the VTec wire selenoid I put a heat sock around it and zip tie it, did the zip tie melted ?

I too have melted wires. My fuse box melted too. I got this small battery and turned the fuse box sideways. I definitely need to make som eheat shields though. I also had the mani and dp and turb ohotside ceramic coated. Plus the vented hood helps a lot while driving.

So far I have only made a small heat shield for the top of the hotside on the turbo and that has helped a lot. I still need to make a shield for along my downpipe/battery though since my buddy club battery has melted and I needed to replace it.
