2 hours into the drive to L.a. I pulled over to the gas station to top off. I popped the hood to make sure everything is ok since I have another 3-4 hours of driving. Smoke comes flowing out because the wires by the vtec solenoid were melting on the manifold. This sucks because I'm suppose to get my car tuned monday and I had to turn around and go back home so I can try to fix this problem.

Hopefully the vtec solenoid wire isn't that charred so I don't have to replace it. I even made a heat shield but the heat from underneath is what got it. Plus I have to make a sheat shield for the loom because its starting to melt that some.

If anyone has any other suggestions I'd really appreciate it. I need to wake up early tomorrow and get this fixed so I can start back on my 5-6 hour drive. TIA.
Get some DEI wire covering from this place.

Thanks both of you. I had major problems yesterday. Either the manifold cracked at the flange where the turbo sits or the gasket blew out because it was blowing exhaust directly on the wire looms and melted the shit out of alot of wires around the area. My horn started going off for no reason and wouldn't stop. I have to take apart everything and re-wire and find out exactly what happend. Even the washers I had on turbo holding it to the flange were melting. Crazy shit.

You should get it tune ASAP, I never even started the car trailer it to the tuner and they start it up, seems to be the best way to go. You have balls to drive it around not tune.

If you want to tow it over, I have access to a trailer and my diesel truck can handle it with ease.

I was told by 2 tuners it would be ok for me to drive it as long as I'm on the stock ecu with stock injectors and stay out of boost. I'm not daily driving it. I was driving it to get tuned and its actually pretty easy to stay out of boost as long as you have a boost gauge.

The other reason I wanted to drive it is exactly for what happened. If I had trailored it and something like this happened I would've wasted my money towing the car and had to take the car back home to fix it and tow it again. You're probaly saying well just have them fix it. They would probaly charge me $300+ for parts and labor for something I could do for $30 unless its the manifold and I would send it back to get fixed. The car ran great! It was cooling good, no misfires, no symptoms of anything bad. Just heat issues and exhaust leak (big one).

Thanks AGBLLET I appreciate your offer. I miss having my diesel trucks!
