Interesting thread. Maybe I just got lucky but I've had zero heat-related issues w/ my Inline kit. I have had other issues including the infamous studs-backing-out-of-the-exhaust-manifold thing.

All I've done for heat stuff is to relocate my fusebox about an inch closer to the fender, bent my heater host bracket and vented my hood. Other than that no shielding of any type.

AND, as i write this i'm in DC. Drove 900+ miles straight thru from FL. You'd think if something was gonna melt that would do it.

You would not have near the heat issues with an Inline kit due to low turbo mounting and manifold design. Way different type of setup.

hey mike, did your liner get burned yet? i am suprised that you hasn't melt your fuze box yet.
Hey, whats up bro ... I hope that your install is going well. My liner actually got a burn mark on it right above the hotside of the turbo before I installed the heatshield, but since then its stayed the same. Now I just need to make a shield for the battery and downpipe. It never ends.

The install went OK; there were a few things needed to be sorted out such as charge pipes and water line for the turbo and some other small stuff.
I also upgraded the head with supertech springs, retainers and valves. oh yea, also a 3mm inlinepro gasket for more boost.
i think it will be all worth it when it's up and running.

Blocked off the vtec oil pressure sensor with a bolt and some teflon and moved the wire around. I wrapped the whole unit around with some aluminumized heat shield tape with adhesive backing.

As a matter of fact I lined most of the engine bay with this stuff and it worked very well:

Do you have any pics of your engine compartment with the adhesive heat wrap and call me stupid but why did you block off the vtec oil pressure sensor?

wtbs2k how did you bolt your heat shield up and kenyellows2k hold did you bolt up your manifold HS?

I guess melted wiendshield washers and heater valves are exclusive to top mount turbo owners. Had to get a new one and cover it with some similar stuff as kane posted. No problems after that.

Everyne running a GT1 kit will have this problem without heatshielding of some sort. My advice is to go to Ace hardware and get some aluminum flashing and make a shield for anything that is within 10 inches of the piping that could melt. Wires, plastic, battery...anything you don't want fried.

And this goes for any turbo kit and even headers...remember, exhaust gases are over 1000*, and it's not uncommon to see piping temps around 800.
I don't understand this at all. I have the first GT1 kit and don't have anything heat shielded and have yet to melt anything(except a little spot of heat/melt showing up on the hood heat cover). All that was done were some things moved around a little and tied back.
Why are so many people having these problems? Is it really the kit or the installers fault/problem?

Look in the background at the heater hose to the left. It's wrapped around with the stuff.

I blocked it off because the AEM EMS doesn't use it anymore. It would have just been one more thing to get melted since the manifold is routed right by there. You need to cut the bolt very short (same length as the sensor was when removed).

Spoolin for me I am just taking precaution, heatshield was easy to make no big deal. do you have vented hood ?, GT1 is odd in that some people have the worse luck and some just able to have it on no problem.

Good example is exclipse, he did great installation the cleanest but the most problematic of them all, break stuff, stuff coming loose, boost creep to 10 psi.

Here's a question did anyone beside exclipe with Gt1 that is running 10psi or more without any issues ?
