Default MAJOR PROBLEMS with full race "kit"

MAJOR PROBLEMS.

We finished up my full-race "kit" install today. The bullsh*t oil filter relocation fittings that were supplied with the kit are not good. They are the type that are female thread to barb, using 5/8" hose. After getting it started, there was one leaking, so I put a hose clamp on it. We ran the car after adjusting the tune, and checked for leaks. All the connections seemed good, and were not leaking. After an hours or so of tuning, we drove the car, and about a 1/4 mile away from my house, the oil warning light came on. We drove straight back to my garage, and the motor starting making a knocking noise. When we opened the hood, there was oil everywhere, and one of the oil hoses on the filter relocation bracket had come completely off the barb. We checked the oil, and it was bone dry. I subsequently removed the oil drain, and drained the last couple drops. Then filled up the oil, and changed the filter.

Now the motor makes a subtle knocking noised non-stop. My tuner told me that I would need to take off the pan and check the bearings and some other things.

Worried.... Feedback please....

do you have a good oil level now, and its making the knocking noise. If so thats not good and it could be something damaged, i would def. drop the pan and check the bearings and everything else...I am sorry to hear that

Rod knock, good bye motor. I tell ppl that is the worst light you can see no oil press = blown motor. Yea pop off the pan and check bearings, see if the crank got scored.

Sounds like a new engine in your future. I would guess bearing failure. Might as well sleeve and build this one now that the bearings are probably shot... You should have turned the car off as soon as the oil light came on and checked things out. That trip home may have blown it.

I put screw clamps on ALL my lines (coolant AND oil) to prevent just this sort of thing from happening. Barbed connector does not mean push-lock... Push-lock connectors have larger/sharper barbs.

if you drove the car with no oil pressure you have spun a bearing. That knock you hear is the rod hitting the crank inside the cap. DO NOT DRIVE or RUN THE CAR AT ALL. if its outside the garage, push the thing into the garage. You might be able to save the crank if its not badly scored.

same thing happened to me where i dumped fuel from a leak near the KW oil relocation kit (stupid relocation kit) and the oil light came on. The 2nd it came on i turned the car off!. that saved my motor. Motor has no knock and has been fine for the past 2k miles. i dont know why you would drive the car while that light was on. You blew your motor.

Why would you drive the car when the oil light came on?

YOU defiantly blew it. you should have shut it off when the light came on. same type of situation happened to me when i first put my oil relocation kit on. i used the wrong filter and it popped off and my oil light came on. it happened twice and both times i immediately shut it off. no damage was done and that was 22k ago...
