Default Making a heat shield ?

I am thinking I should go ahead and make a heat shield to go between the turbo header and fuse box, but have a couple of questions before I go to the metal supply place. Should I use stainless steel or aluminum? Im thinking I should use stainless since aluminum transfers heat more easily. Next question is what gauge or thickness should I use? It wont be anything fancy, just want it to be functional. Thanks

Would using aluminium and coating it with something work? It would be much easier to work with and you can get get a high heat coating at any auto parts store. Just a thought...

Initially I planned to use aluminum, but had people telling me that it transfers heat more easily than stainless. Personally, Id rather use aluminum because of what you mentioned with it being easier to bend and such. Guess I could always coat it and then line it with that gold heat reflecting tape. Maybe Ill do that

Another vote for aluminum (and/or reflective heat tape)

I would use aluminum with fiberglass reflective blanket.

I have an aluminum one and it works fine. I may add reflective tape to it and see it it makes a difference.

Aluminum is a lot better for heat, think of electrical equipment. Aluminum is always used as heat sinks.

Here is mine and it works great. Got the material from McMaster-Carr and I think it's around .062" thick. There are different types for heat and I think they mention which is best on their site.
