obviously nitrous is illegal for use on the street, but is it illegal to "have" on the street.

like if you were parked, and a cop looked in your trunk, would you be f**ked?
i think it all depends on were you live. the cop, if the bottle is hooked up etc etc.
In florida cops don't care as long as they dont hear you coming a mile away ((dont ask))

In general here in NY, nitrous would get you in trouble (visually) if the nitrous bottle is actively hooked up.

of course it could get you in trouble manyyy other ways

Trust me, spend $1000 bucks and you can get a bullet proof nitrous setup. Best thing i ever did and i dont know why everyone who cant afford a turbo is not doing nitrous instead. I been running nitrous for years but only 8 months on s2k. I spray a lot and did a compression test yesterday and was 240 PSI for every cylinder, which is perfect. Nitrous does not hurt your motor, people who dont know what they're doing do. I'm running 310 whp and 276 wtq with no tune. I mostly run a 75 shot though on pump gas which puts me at about 285 whp. 310 whp is on 100 octane. It pulls so hard. I walk worked STI's and EVO's, nothing more satisfying to me then their faces afterwards.

so how much would you guess you have spent refilling bottles at like 40 bucks a bottle? FI for reliable fun filled power. it would suck to have your ass handed to you becuase your bottle is empty, low, cold blah blah you get the point.

i trust nitrous, just not worth it in the long run.

Not all nitrous systems are illegal for the street. I'm sure there are states where having a nitrous bottle in your car is illegal no matter what, but there are actually CARB approved nitrous kits. (Not very many, and none in recent years, but it's nice to know that it has been done...) take a look. http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermk...es/amquery.php

Here in cali, it's technically only supposed to be illegal if it's actively hooked up and ready for use(without a CARB #), but it depends on the officer or ref that you talk to. The laws are so convoluted that they can get you for just about anything if they really want to.

As for how long a bottle lasts, it totally depends on the size of the shot and how long you're spraying it. I've been in the car with a friend who had a progressive 150 shot in his vette, and it lasted long enough for about 6 good roll races from 50 or so to about 180mph with a 10lb bottle.

Spending less then 1/4 of what most spend and handing some FI guys their asses, thats what would really suck. Who says you need to spend $3000 on filling your bottle? Your running a 13.2 at 110mph, I run high 12's at 112mph consistantly, when i was bone stock with only a 75 shot. Dont mean to sound rude either, i just become annoyed when people bash nitrous and cant give a legit reason as to why they are.

Bottom line, I'm faster and spent ALOT less money to get that time at the drag strip.
lets do this, bring your nos car out. lets do 6 runs back to back. which car will be faster

with FI, every day my car is fast. yours only moves when the bottle is ready. you do sound rude. did it ever occur to you my 13.2@110 was not all the car had? guess not.

if you fill 100 bottles you spent (GASP> wait for it, wait for it, wait for it! 3000 dollars. if you run up on a evo or sti on the road, and your bottle is empty, your slow and the evo will butt hurt you. i mean what are we really trying to prove here? in the long run, costing it out, FI is for the guy that wants power each and every time he steps on teh go pedal. you cant provide that with nitrous, it just aint gonna happen.

my buddy in a vr6 24v had a 10o shot on his. it was awesome for three hard runs. then the turbo srt4 he ran raped him. he was filling the botle every week. 30 bucks a week and 52 weeks a year is uh oh, 1560 a year in nitrous. if you wanna just go fast when a setup race happens, or when you only go to the track, then fine, but i will never have to say, man if my bottle was full i would beat you to anyone ever. on the 1st punch or the 100th punch, a FI car has the same consistent power output.

haha my bottle easily lasts 6 runs down the strip first of all, lol i guess my car is still faster then yours.

Second, your buddy is either crazy or leaves the nitrous activated every time he floors the car.

Having low bottle pressure or no nitrous was not ever once a problem for me.

Im not saying i would not rather have boost, cause i would, i just cant afford it, You just never ran nitrous for yourself before, so i expect these remarks out of someone like you.
low bottle pressure directly relates to the shot your doing, hence why you use a bottle heater to raise the pressure and keep it as consistent as you can, as you spray, the bottle cools. guess you dont know as much about this as you think rofl. if your spraying a 100shot, which i assume you are with claims of 310whp, then i highly doubt 6 runs on a bottle. but what do i know, i have only done it in my buddies vr6 before ROFL.

listen, nitrous can be safe, and is cool, but it only works when you have it. FI is all the time.
