Default Mocal sandwhich plate thermo question

Hey guys posting here as well as in under the hood ... Well my question is .. I installed the mocal sandwhich plate with a thermostat not sure what temp yet ..ran to a setrab oil cooler .. So I filled the car with oil and ran it .. Right away oil went into cooler .. I added additional quart .. Ran again to try to get to temp and see if thermostat opens .. But it seems to me it is open from the start cause it warmed up with the car . As well as both lines .. is this normal ? I was under the impression that it will only flow at thermostat temp..
Thanks for any help fellas

Hmm, I'm running the Mishimoto with the 200* thermostatic plate, and it didn't open until it had been driven for a while (which kinda stinks because the car went from being just past the top X on the dipstick to under just under the bottom X). It almost sounds like there is either an issue with the thermostat and it is stuck open. Not sure if there is a way to test it off the engine.

All oil thermostats allow a LITTLE flow. This is to prevent thermal shock to the system. For example, the oil in the cooler is 30degC and suddenly the thermostat opens mixing it with 100degC oil. The thermal shock from the big temperature differece can cause damage to various parts. So they all allow a little flow even when 'closed'.

Don't know about the above but this is what mocal say:

Also mine gets warm on both lines. I monitor pan temps and all is good so don't worry.
