Default Most affordable turbo option?

hey guys

i threw an aftermarket stage 2 turbo on my previous car (97 Jetta) and even after a year and a bit of driving an S, i can't get that sound and feeling of boost out of my head. given that the S cost quite a bit more than the Jetta, i don't have as big of a budget for mods. so i'm wondering what the most affordable turbo option is. i am not looking for BIG power and would love to keep my drivetrain and engine internals stock. it seems like most builds on this site are big ones but i am just looking for that extra kick and sound that my ears are craving

thanks

U can spend 4k on a greddy kit or spend a little extra and get a bigger kit and make 400-500whp! And keep the motor stock and get a good clutch and thats all u need.

How many miles do you have on your car? I was under the impression that a compression should be first administered. If all is well, then you can roll onto that FI kit of your liking.

Have you considered a supercharger? Do you ever track your car or is it just a cruiser for you?

What kind of clutch are you wanting to go with? Because obviously mating your power output to your clutch is important.

thanks for the replies. car has 90k miles on it which i realize is on the higher end, but i just had my valve spring retainers upgraded to AP2 and the mechanic took a good look while the engine was open and said everything looks fine. once i have the turbo setup picked out i will do a compression test before buying to make sure my engine is ready.

the car is not tracked. i have not done research into clutches yet but i would want one as close to oem feel as possible since this is my daily driver.

Superchargers are one of those things that i've never put serious thought into so i don't know how they are for price and reliability. but i would definitely be open to suggestions. i'll also have to look into that greddy kit

x2. but remember, set aside about 8-10 grand.

i say this becuase, clutch + FI kit + misc + in case shit happens = 8-10 grand

yes, you can get in the door for 2-3grand. but it adds up over time, and i highly recomend a clutch.

also, are you doing the work yourself or paying for labor?

Exactly, If you don't have at least 7 grand and plan on going bigger then greddy kit, don't waste your time.
