Default My turbo build, need advice!

This is an email I got from Jeff Evans at Evans Tuning:

I know that you are planning on coming here today, but just wanted to let you know that that would be fine with us. The car is technically finished. Jeff and I took it out to street tune it yesterday and all seems really well with it. There are a bunch of little things with the car that Jeff can discuss with you further when you get here. The car made 270whp at 6lbs of boost. There is no boost controller and there was nothing with the car to turn up the boost. You can either get a stiffer wastegate spring, or we can get you a boost controller. You are, however, more than welcome to take the car today. Jeff will go over all of the other little things with the car with you once you get here. The car had stock spark plugs in it since it was at Don's shop. Don put a heat range colder plug in it, but with all of the issues with the AEM box we fouled out that set of plugs. Jeff ended up replacing them with a set of heat range 8 iridium plugs. These plugs are 40.00 for the set.

As some of you currently know my car has been at Evans Tuning for a bit and Im trying to get my little winter project finished up. I currently have a T3/T4 turbo with looks like a 57/60 trim according to Jeff. The turbo seals are bad and the car smokes at idle and isnt make huge power. I currently have the AEM standalone FMU, a front mount intercooler, new plugs, wahlbro 225 and 750 cc's. All which are less than a month old. The problem is there is no boost controller and want run more than 6 lbs. I want 350 horsepower and need a bigger turbo and the Inline Pro manifold is cracked. Any advice is appreciated. I dont want to spend more than $2500-$3000 to finish this up. Any advice would be nice.

Gee, ya think? I told Jeff, I want at least 350 to the wheels. Im looking for something that will tear up a road course and still run deep into the 12's.

Although i cant really say anything to help you with your situation i just wanted to say damn. i was counting on your results from evans tuning to see what kind of power he made with the inline kit. Did you buy the basic inline kit i.e. no headgasket, BB turbo, and etc? as for the inline manifold and it being cracked im just speechless on that, i guarentee if you filled inline on this situation they would replace it immediatly. what kind of problems was jeff having wit the EMS? I have a boost controller i think im going to let go here pretty soon if your intrested in it.

oh and btw, for the plugs i think almost all good tuners will always tell you to either bring or buy a set (from him) of plugs as they always foul out the first set.

Not 100% sure but I believe the AEM EMS has a boost controller built into it. If your willing to spend 2500-3000., my advise would be to buy the EMS and have the turbo rebuilt/overhauled. You should be just under 3000. with that and have the power your looking for. This will also let you expand/grow in the future if you desire.

The first set of plugs fouled out messing around with the first AEM. I was very quiet on the forums about this but the first AEM box I received was broken when we got it. Devin from AEM helped diagnose this with Jeff and sent me out a brand new box in no-time. AEM= Awesome customer service! Thanks guys.

I bought the car with the Inline Pro kit already on the car at an auction. As some of you know, Im a sales manager at Bridgewater Acura. I saw this filthy yellow beast sitting in the auction lane and wound up "stealing it". The dealer selling the car was a Porsche dealer and had no idea what it was, except for the "really big radiator", which I knew was a FMIC. I knew the car needed a FMU and from there all my choices were made to make sure this car didnt grenade on me.

The NSX Kid

Please take pictures of the manifold/turbo kit. I want to see the manifold and the crack it has. I do not remember sending a kit up there and i know you spoke to stan before.

E-mail the pictures to us, and if it is our manifold, send it back our way and i'll get you a new one. Our manifolds have a lifetime warranty and i still have yet to see one of our manifolds crack while on the car.

I never bought any of the Inline Pro parts and the only time I spoke to stan was when he and a friend, came to my house in NJ to buy my stock NSX seats.

Aprreciate the offer for the manifold, once I know more, ill keep you posted. I cant take a photo, as the car isnt even in my state

Ahh ok,

I thought you called him on the phone about the s2000 you just purchased because you thought it had our turbo kit on the car. I just remember stan mentioning that.

Like i said, just take a few pictures of it, and if its ours, we'll give you a new manifold.
