Invest in some new tires man. I can't imagine putting down that kind of power to a 225/50/16 in the rear. It's not safe.

I have about the same whp for now and I'm running Yoko ADVAN Neova 255/40/17 with my old 457R gears and I don't get the wiggly rear end unless I smash it on cold tires in third.

I'm in the process of putting in a new InlinePRO built motor and the Nissan diff conversion and I will probably try and stuff at least a 275 in the back for that.
I wish I had that kind of power! Awesome!

the OE s02's 225/50-16 are really 245/45-16. 245 is still small though

So what exactly causes the "fluttering" noise at low speeds in higher gears? Like gentle acceleration up a hill in 6th gear @ 40 mph leads to light fluttering or chirping noises from the BOV. I'm guessing that there is just enough air flowing through the turbine to cause the compressor to build very slight positive intake pressure (which is not needed). The intake pressure builds, and reaches a certain level at which the BOV vents, the intake pressure drops, the BOV shuts, the compressor again builds slight pressure and the process repeats itself. Thats my guess at least.

Can anyone clarify or elaborate on what is going on here. I think it's just the way that the BOV handles lower magnitude pressure releases.

Should make for a few interesting "WTF is that" comments from first time passengers.
I was thinking the same thing in terms of how it works... but if you're talking about a fluttering sound, isn't it more likely that it might be coming from the wastegate? Again, I'm not sure, but at least on my setup, my BOV has a very clean and "sssssssss" type sound ( I'm sure thats a very scientific explanation). However I also get the fluttering sound... I just can't imagine that sound coming from my BOV.

I honestly would like to know about this as well...

I love this one. I've posted something similar a LONG time ago in some random thread somewhere. I've appended my turbo results here. Lots of assumptions here (like perfect traction and no aero or frictional resistances) but the comparison is still valid.

This comparison confirms my thoughts and hopes that if my car would have had traction in first gear when it was stock, it will also have traction in third gear with the turbo. Note the similar maximum acceleration numbers between stock first gear and turbo third gear.

All of the information here was obtained knowing the engine torque, the total gearing, and the weight of the car.

Wow, you always know and love the feeling of the acceleration, but to see in hard figures that you're experiencing 1.5 Gs of acceleration is something else.

With the GT35R turbo setup, you need to cut a little gap out of the frame for the turbo to fit. Thats what they had to do on my car.

I'd recommend this turbo to anyone. It can't imagine what it would spool like/top out at with a full 3" single.

I did a couple of 50-120 runs tonight on a very long and deserted stretch of interstate and had a buddy monitoring everything though the laptop. The peak boost never exceeded 18.5 psi. Water temps hovered at 199 all night.

Starting off in third and mashing it at 60 mph gets you to 90 in what feels like 3 seconds. The sound of the turbo spooling up after a high RPM upshift is insane. Other than that sound, the BOV valve chirping on pressure release, and the four faint but still audible beeps from Modifry's shift indicator, I really don't know what the car sounds like. I'm too busy paying attention to the driving and all of that petty stuff.

Hopefully I can get some videos up in a day or two. I need to find someone with a video camera first.

Sometimes I wish the turbo wouldn't spool up so damn fast. I have to REALLY make an effort to keep throttle application below 10% or so or I get an audible pssshhhhhh. Kind of letting the cat out of the bag about what's under the hood.

Hey slimjim8201,
Your powerband looks great.
How is the throttle response and power delivery when going from off-throttle to on-throttle. Is there the typical boost lag? Can you describe the lag at different rpms? I would imagine there's less lag time at higher rpms.
Thanks for your feedback.
