Default Neeman77 Turbo Build Thread

Hey guys,
I have done a few builds since being on s2ki and I thought I should post up my progress for you guys to see. I always find these types of threads entertaining. The setup I was running was as follows before I dropped a valve and wrecked everything:

- Stock Engine with Inlinepro 3mm headgasket
- Inlinepro Springs and titanium retainers
- Garrett GT35R 1.06 A/R
- P-Fab Top Mount Equal Length Divided Manifold
- Dual Tial 38mm MVS wastegates
- Inline Pro 600 HP Intercooler
- Bosch 1000cc Injectors
- Inline Pro Blow Off Valve
- Inline Pro/PFab Charge Piping
- 3" Full Apexi N1 Exhaust
- Stage 4 Competition Clutch
- Inline Pro R200 Differential Kit
- Driveshaft Shop 1000 HP Axles
- Driveshaft Shop 1000 HP Driveshaft
- AP2 Transmission
- Walbro fuel pump (rewired)

I sent a spare head away to Inlinepro to get it checked out and machined and have the valve guides replaced. I also sent them my block to be built by Jeremy Allen. Got the stuff back a week or so ago and here is my progress:

This was the fate of my old head and block. Also pieces went through the turbo and damaged the turbine wheel. Of course you cant just replace the turbine wheel on a GT35R, you need a whole new center section.

Now to the real work, I needed to salvage some parts from the old head. I removed the intake manifold and VTEC solenoid.

Since the failure was in cylinder #3, I replaced all the titanium retainers and keepers in in that cylinder to avoid complications later.

They were the oem valves in there, I have done a great deal of reading on this to try and figure it out. I think it is a compound problem since I was using the stock valves and stock guides. The stock valves begin to warp at higher temps and eventually fail. That is the information I gathered from Ya at Inline. But I have seen a few people pushing the stock top end to high hp levels with some not having this problem. I think it also the s2000 has a tendency to wear out exhaust valve guides. These are the main way in which a valve can release heat and less contact=less heat dissapation as well as some "wobble" in the valve. Lastly, the stock valves are made of 2 different materials, the face being stainless and the stem magnetic so not stainless. They fail right where the 2 materials meet. That is my thoughts on it, but I could be wrong.

Rewired pumps allow you to get more voltage to the pump since it does not have to go through the ignition and many fuses etc. I saw a 1.5-1.8v increase at the pump after I did this mod. It allows the pump to push more fuel before maxing out. Kinda like a cheap kenny bell boost-a-pump.

Were you using a 2 step launch control with your stock valves?

I always love how stuff looks after it was hot tanked.

Get an 8 or 10 gauge wire and run it from the battery to the trunk, attach it to a 30 amp relay. Then you use the stock fuel pump wire to signal the relay to open, attach the relay to the stock plug for the fuel pump and add the ground for the relay. Thats the basic idea and functions just as stock.

Nice write up!
This Is why I built my head with supertech dual springs and Ti retainers with inco exhaust and stainless intake plus new valve guides and seals.
Good luck to you and your new numbers!

Well hell.......Why were you running 2 3mm HG's? LOL You have it listed twice.

So, you had new dual valve springs and Ti retainers but with the stock valves and it dropped a valve?

I have only 14k miles on my stock engine, was pushing 581 whp and 440 tq and just had the head built. The machinist told me that my ex valves were slightly warped and the guides were worn. So he replaced them with new stockers. I was glad I had it built when I did as I could have eventually dropped a valve also.

Good luck with the build and it's looking good.
