Haha oh I didn't notice. Yes you are correct, I was still running stock valves and guides. Hearing your story about the warped valves and the worn guides kinda supports my hypothesis. Thanks for the well wishes!

edit

This is what i meant by the face seperating from the stem and falling into the motor. I tastefully took the picture to show the damage it caused in the background haha.

How did the Ti retainers on the dropped valves look?

They looked ok except for the rockers smashing into them since the cams were trying to turn while the valve face was holding the other valves closed.

Are you trying do do a little bit of finger modeling in that pic? LOL

Yeah, you can clearly see where the failure occurs with high horsepower heat on the stock valves over time.

camuman - Yes I definitely know what you are talking about in that regard, I also went through a similar episode with my integra. Oh the horror haha.

Spoolin - My career in hand modelling didnt work out, apparently I needed more work on my cuticles. haha

Power goals are right around where they were last year, I have gotten rid of the meth/water injection system to eliminate a potential for another failure. I don't like speculating with numbers because it only creates expectation and disappointment.

My tuner is Shane Zeigler at DB Performance just outside of Minneapolis, MN. He is very good at what he does and I would recommend him to anyone. They are running a dyno dynamics in their shop. Diff kits are great, but then you just worry about the transmission lol.

^

I went with Supertech Valves because of your advice a while back

I was thinking of ditching the Meth too, just another thing to go wrong, I dunno if maybe I will just inject a tiny bit of water or what. It is an amazing tool when it works, but for it to work as intended, the car needs to be tuned where it would explode if it ever failed <---- not 100% dependable

Neeman

Did you have the Meth wired to the EMS, so if it ever failed it would send a signal to the EMS, should be a pretty good failsafe?

Alright I am in for another update!

Joey - I never ended up wiring the meth into the EMS for a failsafe. I still feel like there is always the risk of failure. One of my close friends is running this system on his supercharged del sol and he just happened to have the main power wire for the pump ground out and pop the main power fuse. This would not allow the control box to send our an error as it would just be off. I dont need a motor going for something simple like that.

I never ended up posting pictures of my block that was built by Jeremy Allen (Allenbuilt engines)

- AEBS sleeves
- CP forged pistons
- Inlinepro forged rods
- ARP rod bolts
- O-ringed

Got the block into the car after bolting on the motor mounts. I did not put the head on the engine first because I find it easier to put the transmission on when the block can tilt all the way back rather than hit the firewall.

Started putting together the timing case. Started by installing the oil pump and chain then moving on to the upper guides and timing chain.
