If the SC is making ful boost by 2000 rpm.. that means there is alot more force all through out the entire RPM range. Much more wear and tear then making full boost by say 5000 rpm. So does that mean that the engine will wear out that much faster? Just curious if my logic is correct. Personally... If some one were to complain about a 2.2L making 300 whp that "only lasted 95,000 miles" I would say their crazy. Thats a crapload of power from a tiny engine. Allthough technology is making this a fun game of how much power you can make with a tiny engine!!
Some of you still get it wrong.
The Rotrex CAN boost from as low as 1800rpm as per their info if you mash it from this rpms (same would go for a tiny turbo). It does not mean that if you just cruize along on partial throttle that you are boosting, since a blow/pop off valve will vent the boost.
And if you floor it, it will boost, but once you are in those situations, you go from 1800rpm to redline and than shift up (who races from 1800rpm anyway), what makes you drop to around 7000rpm. So it's not like you will be driving 1800-9000rpm on full boost all day long and wearing your engine out.

The Rotrex should be as good or better than any other FI, in terms of wear and tear on the car. It's using a turbo compressor but the drive head is smaller than a typical centri = less rotary inertia. Also not as much added heat under the hood like a turbo. It can slip alittle too, which is good for reducing shock load.
Wow, so Jackson, Fastforward, and Axial Flow - the race is on! I've had money in hand since the BRP vapor SC debacle.

Are there any guestimates on cost for the Jackson setup?

I am also watching the AFSC and the JR both have there own advantages and disadvantages.

However I going to wait to see the DYNO plots before I make my final decision.

The issue /concern with increased engine wear when the engine has been boosted has been discussed multiple time search the FI forum.
As per my question.... I was asking the about wear on Turbo/SC vs wear on the JR SC. Not wear on Turbo/SC vs NA. I understand the contrast in wear on turbo vs na.

Btw, there is a guy in Miata forum who already has a Rotrex in his car and he claims that it is a linear boost thing just like the rest of the centrifrugals - which is better than no-boost in a Miata but nothing close to the performance of the roots and twin-screws. Look for the post from Diver:

From what I read at the BRP forum their blower is almost ready for release. Lately they do an update every few days - the last one is from Friday and says that they were doing tuning on the car over the weekend.
Here is the thread with the last few updates:

I can bet you'll see the BRP kit on the market much before Jackson, Fastforward or the Axial guy - the Fastforward and the Axial guy are just in the talk phase and haven't even touched or experimented with a S2000 ...

is the post that mx5 is referring to...

Mind you until we see a dyno run it is all complete conjecture at this point.
