Thanks for clarifying that. I'm surprised that Oscar (not sure if it's Sr. or Jr.) said in the SEMA video link above that the S2000 project has a goal for Christmas, but you say that it's more like Q2 or Q3. That's a big change in a week.
The goal is to work out the bugs and testing of the SC for the S2000 by Christmas and have kit's available by Q2 or early Q3 of O7. We are not talking about a garage operation building a few kits, they have to ramp up for large production runs on tested kits and that takes time, especially the testing part. We are planing to take the car out to the track at the Speed Ventures events and having some fun.

The TOV video got me really excited about what I would be buying myself for Christmas. But the estimate of third quarter 2007 is quite a wait. That could be 9 months! Ohh how I whine.

Anyone think it'll be possible to rip out the paxton blower from a comptech setup and just boltup the rotrex blower while keeping the aftercooler?

If they end up using their powercard, I realize the ESM will have to come out. But I'd rather not spend a ton of time removing an entire SC kit ... only to put a different SC back on

Do you have any information regarding the components of the JRkit other than the Rotrex supercharger. Will this kit come with an intercooler of some kind? How will it be mounted (similar location as the Vortech and Comptech)? Will it use the Power-card or something different? Bracket materials? Anything?

Will this kit be available in different stages, for example a 6psi kit and 10 psi kit?

In addition, I would like to see some dyno sheets posted. If these kits are to have the bugs worked out by Christmas, there must be some dyno #'s available.

A 2-3hr installation would be awesome!

Thanks,

Mike

I think JRs goal is to have a few options. 5 psi kit, 10 psi kit, inter cooler/after cooler options and then the big monster that can put out up to 20+ psi. We are going to start with the 5 psi on my car and work our way up. I have given them the green light to blow up my motor if needed just to see what kind of power/performance we can get.

Turbo's on S2000s can spin up to 150,000 RPM and can start spooling up and making boost at much lower RPMs therefore are able to make boost and power at much lower RPMs on the S2000. This new SC from JR has the best of both worlds. It has about a 13:1 ratio pulley to turbine so therefore can spool up and create boost at a much lower engine RPM but can spool up over 100,000 RPM so it can sustained a much more liner power curb starting at much lower RPMs and pull right up to the 9000 RPM Redline of the S2000. The reason I like it so much is because it gives you the throttle response of a very powerful NA engine but the HP of a boosted one but the best part is it starts pulling hard starting at much much lower RPMs. I can't tell you what HP or Torque numbers we will get but I expect the same % increases as they got in the Honda Fit.
There are many differences between the compressors used in the Rotrex systems and the centrifugal systems. Centrifugal compressors are designed to operatate at MUCH lower operating speeds, as there is a limit to how fast the pulley/gear drives can efficiently spin them. For this reason, they have completely different impeller designs and considerable larger housings designed to move more air at a lower operating point.

Turbocharger compressors spin at 2-4 times the speed of most centrifugal compressors. Their compressor housings are a lot smaller for this reason. 500 CFM from a small compressor spinning at 150,000 RPM isn't very different than 500 CFM from a large compressor spinning at 50,000 RPM. The fact that the Rotrex drive spins much faster is not the cause of the more desirable boost curve. That curve is directly related to the fact that the blower speed is not held at a constant ratio relative to engine speed.

If this kit is making only 300 whp at 10 psi, I'd be pretty dissapointed. That must be a misquote.

I agree, especially since the MP62 charger is making well over 300 whp with only 5.5 psi.

I suspect that the JR rotrex will make more power than what was stated earlier. I just really want to see a dyno sheet representing the power and power curve this blower is capable of making on 10psi.
