Default No spark

On saturday I got in my car and tried to start it. Started roughly and fired on less than four cylinders.

I shut it down and tried again, was firing on even less cylinders. So borrowed the SOs car and headed out.

Checked today and it's not firing at all. Put a timing light on cylinder one and no spark.

Next test is to pull the AEM and replace with OEM ecu and see if I get a spark. It might run pretty horrid as I have 750cc injectors and a 3.5bar MAP but I'm guessing if the AEM is the problem replacing the ECU will show it.

Anyways, just thought I should document the process but any ideas or suggestions are welcome.

Hmm, might try plugging the laptop in to the AEM too. If it's truly dead that will show pretty quick. It's a 1012 btw.

Swapped ECUs and first thing I noticed was a CEL. Could be anything though, MAP, Injectors or whatever.

Turned the engine over and it didn't start. Checked the timing light and no spark.

So I guess it's not the ECU. I'll plug it back in and connect the laptop. I'm thinking Crank Position Sensor perhaps.

Checked all the fuses? Ground on the back of the head?

When cranking does the timing sync in the AEM? You might get more help in the under the hood section.

Hmmm, fuses. You'd think that'd be the first thing I'd check. Will have a look tomorrow.

Will also check the ground on the back of the head. May have come loose.

I would have checked the timing sync but once again can't find my damn USB-Serial cable.

Thanks for those ideas. Sometimes it takes another perspective to point out the obvious.

I considered the UTH section but initially thought it was an AEM issue so thought this would be the place.

Checked the ground on the head. It's tightly connected and there is no resistance between the head and the negative terminal on the battery.

I'l check the fuses tomorrow and also managed to find my Serial-USB converter so will plug in the laptop and check crank sync.

sounds like ecu i sent mine to aem it was a $115 to fix and send back to me. it was a 1012 also one of the coilpack readers (idk what it would be called) in the ecu went bad so they replaced all 4 and its good as new.

I've sort of excluded the ECU as I replaced with the OEM ECU and should have at least seen a spark. That said, the ECU was my first thought as it's happened before.

Coils could be bad, but there are 4 of them and they're not likely to go bad all at once.
