this will be my first summer with the turbo... mishimoto RAD thats it. not sure on what T stat is in it.


when driving, it never gets above 185 and often makes it into the 165 area, bid decels or coming down a hill in neutral. 17-175 is 99%of the time


when i sit in traffic or at red lights it creeps up to 190... sometimes ive seen 200- 205.. i can hold the rpm up at 3k for a minute to get it lower, and it does.. but as soon as i start driving it drops back to the 175 range...

im wondering how 80-90 degree weather will make the car run.. and im wondering, what is SAFE operating temps, especially during idle and long traffic stays.

Im in atl, Ga. My car lives in the low 200s in the summer. Stay below 230-240 and youre fine.

 

DAMN i got a long way to go before 240 hahaha

its 50 here today, i was seeing 170 all day even after about an hour of driving. thanks!

220-230 is over heating . Try to keep it under 220. Sounds like you need some higher performing fans. I would go with the spal extrem performace or high performance line of fans and your car should be go for stop and go traffic in 100+ degree weather.

 

i keep my fans to keep ect temps between 185-200. like @riceball777 's recommendation, exactly what i did. i had some cheapo 12" blox fans and my car kept overheating despite the fan running. now with the spal extreme performance fan, when the fan kicks on at 200 it instantly draws out the heat and gradually lowers my ect down to 185 until the fan turns off and the temps eventually creep back up to 200. also, buy the $100 install kit with the fuse for the extreme fan. it draws a lot of amperage when it turns on, and you probably want the protection. btw, i use the spal on the passenger side and oem on the drivers side and its controlling my temps fine.

 

Stock, the fans kick on at 212F. Thermostat keeps the coolant at 190F. Those are pretty good numbers to stay between.

 

Guess it depends on your definition of overheating. Nothing will happen at 220-230. 240 is starting to over heat and 260 is when you shut it down to prevent damage.

 

i have NEVER seen over 205 so i think im doing ok lol
