Default RPM Spike/Surge on Cold Start

Hey everyone. I've noticed that when my S2 sits for a while (week or more) and is started up in cold weather it seems to have some unusual behavior. Upon (cold) startup, the car will initially idle around 2000 RPM, do a quick jump up to around 3000 for a second or so, then drop back down to 2000 and continue to warm up and slowly drop down to regular idle speed (8-900RPM). Anyone else experiencing similiar behavior?

I should note - the car appears to run just fine otherwise. Thanks in advance!

Relatively speaking - central VA. Last time I drove the car it was around ~40F out.

Only thing I could think of is the temperature may have changed significantly since the last time the car was driven? I only drive it once a week..so maybe the computer is thrown off, not sure.

does the rpm change when you notice the air pump turning on?

Not sure but that's a good question (frankly the engine is so loud at this point I'm not sure if I could hear it from inside the car). Are you suggesting there may be an issue with the air pump?

no, but usually when a load turns on the rpm spikes really quick like when you turn the ac on the rpm jumps very slightly for the extra load.

Gotcha - I'd say this is bit more noticable of a jump than what occurs by turning the AC or other accessory on. It's literally a 1000 RPM jump, then falls back down immediately.
