OHHHHHHH NOOOOO!
wait, i thought the hardtopguy kit (ACT pp, Stock Friction Disc and Comptech flywheel)was good?!?!?! am i wrong? i was under the impression that the act pressure plate was just a reworked stock plate? hmmmmm
any other opinions?

The ACT heavy duty pressure plate is not a OEM. The clamping force on it is much higher. There's plenty of people who have it and claim to never have had any problems with it but there's also a few who have had some issues.
Flywheel preference is upto you. If you are supercharged I'd go with something light. However do note that lighter flywheels are also more prone to cause the gear sets to rattle. I've used the lightweight aluminum flywheel from competition clutch without any rattle or issues but they discontinued it. They now have a fairly light steel flywheel and a lot of my customers have used it and are happy with it. It's a tad bit heavier than the comptech flywheel though but I still haven't had anyone get a rattle out of the competition clutch flywheel.

the act setups with the "heavy duty" pressure plate will produce stress on the thrush washers, and cause crankwalk.
can you imagine your crank rotating at 9k rpm, and have it have play inside your block...

I've been running the OEM disk w/ ACT pressure plate. Although I do not remember what pressure plate i got
As I've had it for over 2 years from the time I was supercharged (over 400rwhp) and now w/ the turbo(well over 400rwhp as well. So far no slipping that I can tell. But I am worried about the crank walk you are stating.
Why does this pressure plate cause this? Also what are you recommending for cars making around 500rwhp? 4-puck, 6-puck?
When you push the clutch in, the fork/release bearing pulls on the pressure plate. The pressure plate is connected to the flywheel which is connected to the crankshaft. The release bearing will pull the pressure plate off the clutch disc when you press the clutch pedal in. It also will yank on the crankshaft some and that's probably what's causing the additional wear and tear.
You should try out the ironman. It holds exceptionally well for that power range.

From reading the post it sounds like they are advising to stay away from the ACT Pressure plate.

I mean I know how clutches work but I guess my question should've been why does the ACT Pressure plate does this more as opposed to other pressure plate

Agreed...with mine as well. I absolutely love it and wrote a huge review on it as well.

kane, both you and Ya only had your clutches last a year? Is that because of excessive "beating"?
where did you read I've only had mine last a year? I still have the same one and it's only been on for a year. It's still on the car.
