Default Oil filter relocation, known problems?

Want to start by saying that I´ve had my filter relocated this season without any big problems but started thinking when I talked to a Honda guru a month ago.

According to this guy you can measure a oil pressure drop after the install. Two customer S2K´s couldn´t even get into vtec after the install and they had to go back to stock.
When I heard this I remembered my valve lifters started ticking after the install, only for a short while and cold engine.

Feel kinda stupid, should have checked the oil pressure before and after but thought it had to do with the oil brand change.

Sooo, ever heard about this? Easiest way to take care of it? Some sort of valve? Need to have it relocated because of the manifold.

sounds like installation error, theres no reason it should lose pressure if theres no leaks, but u will have to add some more oil once u run a relocation kit

Exactly what I thought but he said the extra volume takes the edge of the much needed pressure.
I think they installed it correctly (not that hard) but don´t know milage on the engines, maybe worn down.

I have seen this problem with a customers Sti. It was dangerously lower with the relocation. 40lbs Was not leaking and was on a great well put together billet kit. Ended up taking it off and installing a smaller oil filter.

Wouldnt smaller lines work for an increase in pressure?...i know alotta of ppl use -10 lines so why not just drop down to -8?

I searched for a while yesterday and this is pretty common, here´s a few comments.

* If you switch the hoses you´ll probably kill the engine, it can drop from 40 to 10psi.

* Never use 90 degr bends, it will slow down the oil flow. The adapters shall have straight fittings.

* You will always see a pressure drop with relocation, but normally ok. (Company installing it.)

* Tiny hoses will raise the pressure and big lower it, a size that works on idle might be bad for high rpms.

What do you think, if everything is connected correctly, what can cause a pressure drop with these kits?
And no, I´m not overthinking it, just want to figure it out for the new engine. A lot of $$$...

Phil, don´t know what to think. I run 10´s as well and they should cause a pressure drop but good flow if I understand it correctly.
I´ll try to find more info.
