X2. I switched from Amsoil. 20 bucks a jug and then there is a five dollar rebate lol. Three jugs is an oil change for my S and my jeep. Cheap and good.

Diesels aren't really designed to rev high (that's why I don't use it, kinda like using AVGAS or toluene gas mixes, they don't burn correctly or the same as a true race gas mix, sounds good but may be detrimental in the long run). But even with that I'm sure it's "ok" all up to you. Once I get to the mainland I will be sourcing mobil1 Pegasus 15-40 to try out. It's a full synthetic an we use it on are wankel rotary engines in the US Army RQ-7B drone. I have been flying for 7yrs and never had catastrophic engine fail. Can't go in to detail about its parameters and operating ranges but I think it's a good candidate that I would like to test for a OCI

im using SR/TR whatever floats my boat that day torco 5 or 10 -40 or motul 10-40 right now on island.

I just don't like to go against the grain. It may just be "marketing" but it seems oils are designed for certain applications.

Just my .02

Thanks for your input. I was just wondering since 5w40 isnt a very common viscosity oil. I used motul10w40 in the past and it was too thick imo. My revs would drop too fast and gas mileage went down. Ive heard good things about going 5w40 since itll allow for better/easier flow at cold start ups and provide good thickness when warmed up. Maybe ill just stick to 10w30. Ive been using the lucas oil stabilizer sometimes 60:40 oil to stabilizer and it seems to be working great. The 15w40 you mentioned seems to me too thick dont you think? Especially at cold startups i would think our engines would struggle a little.
