Oil under oil pan after driving
Hey guys.
Hope you can help with a problem i recently noticed.I recently saw i spot of oil when i pulled out of my garage. I checked under the car to make sure my spoon magnetig drain plug was tight and also checked the oil filter and they were.
I noticed 2-3 drops of oil under the oil pan an concluded it was a minor leak from the oil line drilled into the oil pan for the Vortech SC. I took it back to the installer and they tightened it and also apllied a lot of Loctite.
The car then seemed fine, but after taking it to higher revs, and checking it once i got home the next day, i noticed 2 drops of oil under the oil pan again
. Before i take it back to the dealer to check it and install a new clutch, has anyone else had this problem who can give me some insight?
Thanks.

I was careful when I tapped my oil pan that I didn't go too far or mess up the threads in any other way. Also, I was careful not to over-tighten. Most likely one of these happened. And/Or, locktite is not a good sealent. I used ARP thread sealer on mine and you can also use silicone on the threads so long as you are careful not to get any silicone into the engine (can clog up passageways). It's not a big deal, it just needs fixed. We are lucky that we have a nice thick aluminum pan that we can drill and tap. For the guys with sheetmetal pans, you are supposed to make a hole with a square center punch, then put a socket on the back and keep twisting the punch into the hole until it is big enough for the tap to go into. Pack the tap with grease to collect shavings and then tap the flared in hole you made. Clean up the grease then install the fitting using plenty of silicone to seal. We are much better off.
You need to disasemble and clean the fittings for the oil return. Re-assemble them using teflon tape, or a teflon paste. Do not use the teflon on the 90deg fitting to the hose. It uses a conical seal and requires no sealant. Only the tapered pipe threads will need sealant.
thanks guys.
I was told the problem could also be that there was way too much oil in the car.
I checked it again and the level was a little above the H
I let some oil out and have not seen any more drops under the oil pan. I will take it to higher revs today and check agian later.
I'll let you all know. Thanks!

Hey S9krpm, I think we had our S/C installed at the same place, SFP. I had the same problem with small oil spot on the garage floor. Went back and they determined it was the oil pressure gauge monitor (did I say that right). It was removed retaped and then reinstalled. I, however, have started to notice the same thing again. I will be returning to SFP for my AEM and injectors and will have them take a second look at. The great thing about SFP is they stand behind everything they do.
Good luck!

Thanks Deiger.
SFP just ordered a Cusco clutch kit for me and will be installing it by the end of this week. They said they will check the oil problem again then.
They are great guys there and Frank seems to really knows his stuff.
I saw a red s2000 there maybe a little more than 1 1/2 months back, was that yours?

With the tunning and AEM you may notice quickly you need a new Clutch for the extra HP. My stock clucth is fine for regular daily driving and i really did not want to change it because i love the feel so much, but for even slow shifts in high rpms i notice it slipping a lot.
I'll keep you all informed with feedback after the install.
Thanks.
