A wastegate without boost control uses pressure under the diaphragm against the spring to set a limit.

With decent EBC the pressure can be held against the top of the diaphragm so you should be able to achieve any amount of boost your turbo is capable of regardless of the spring.

And most electronic boost controls have two settings. I know the TurboSmart E-boost does.

Another option is to buy just the solenoid and control it via the AEM EMS.

You run an AEM EMS correct? Why don't you just use the EMS with a EBC to run high and low boost?? You can set it so it switches maps with the flip of a switch...?

Chris
Yeah i'm using AEM EMS. EBC is an option ofcourse but it's not as reliable.

I think i'll get a TIAL 44, make the hole in the manifold bigger and try it again.

i have a question i was recently supercharged and now im getting ready to do a custom kit with a t60 .82 ar, tial 38mm wastegate running around 8 psi with a .6 bar spring next friday, does anyone think this will cause boost creep? Im going to be doing a hg and retune within 3-4 weeks and then running 18-21 psi..

Thanks

^^What kind of manifold...

With such low psi, a 38mm will probably creep unless the manifold is designed to be wastegate priority.

i made a post about this about a month ago and was told by several members that the AEM can only have one map loaded at a time and cannot switch between a low boost / high boost map and boost controller without a laptop hooked up to perform the switch... is this correct? as your comment suggests different. thanks

Running a boost controller is not going to help with creep as creep is completly dependent on the size of the wastegate.

that's why i'm getting a bigger wastegate. I hope the TIAL 44 will do the job.

Anyone running a TIAL 44 on an InlinePro manifold? What do I have to change, maybe make the hole bigger?

What if i go with a .62 ar instead of .82 ar will this be alright with the pfab manifold and the 38mm wastegate? please let me know thanks..

Also,
I spoke with pfab today and they said that their flow on their log manifold is pretty wastegate dependant and it should have very minimal problems with boost creep, and if anything the compressor housing can be switched to .63 ar until the car is tuned for higher boost.

Anyone believe this is agreeable?

Thanks
