I was wondering the same thing myself having had a turbo car in the past. Seems pointless.

The manual for the BOV recomends using the filter.

looks pretty clean, but why is their a filter on the blow off valve?
with that particular BOV, while the car is idle, the BOV is actually open and allowing air to be drawn into the engine bypassing some of the restriction of the turbo system (the intake piping, IC, and unspooled turbo). The filter is so that you aren't sucking unfiltered air into the engine.

Now when the system is pressurized and the BOV activates, yes, the filter is pointless, cuz who needs to filter the air going out, lol

Yes, when the car is not in boost, the BOV is basically open, acting like a second intake, thus, the filter.

Ok, while I can't get a good photo of the cutout you guys want (too dark and tight in there ) these illustrations should be enough.....

1)First of all....this is what your cooling plate will look like withOUT the AUT cooling plate.....just a stock s2000 with a Greddy kit...excuse the photochop, but it gets the point across (ignore the carbon fiber in this photo).

Still with me? Good.

2)Now, this is what happens when you put the AUT cooling plate on.....

3)As you can see the AUT "air port" is choked by the metal piece of the Greddy cooling plate, so, you need to cut out a piece that's directly under the AUT air port.

This will allow cold air to go straight through the Greddy plate, into the AUT plate, and into your air filter.

Does that make sense to anyone?

Guys, i cannot wait to get started on my install! There are SO many great threads about the Greddy kit on this site! I have done so much research and learned so many things. I just hope I can put them all into practice when I start, hopefully next weekend. This thread is also been very helpful. I will be doing most things that are mentioned in it. I just want to say thanks to you all who spend your time documenting this stuff for use new guys who haven't installed the kit!
