Default polishing intake manifolds inside

Has anyone used their intake manifold polishing services?
If so what kind of results did you get?Extrudehone

One of the guys about 4 years ago did it and it changes the volume and screws with the tuneability. It ran like crap.

Really

Was he running an AEM? Or were there other issues relating to inidivual cylinder flow?

I believe it was a NA application. I'd prob just turn up the boost a bit or get the head ported by Alaniz, for a larger gain. Instead of dealing with yanking just the intake manifold.

Yes to the head and pulley, I'm wondering if there's any additional virtue in the polishing at that level with alcohol/water injection.

This needs to be moved. Shouldn't be in the FI forum.

Let me clarify it then by say I'm speaking of a boosted application. I know you run an Aquamist system right?

The surface texture is much less important when no fuel is present. I would guess that Honda never intended for the air horns to see fuel so the surface is probably not idealized for it. That being the case, what you do may or may not impact the atomization of the mist. Generally when the intake carries an atomized fuel the surfaces are better with a rough finish to maintain a surface microturbulance and thus maintain atomization of the fuel. If it is polished there is less turbulance and the fuel (or in your case the cooling mixture)will collect on the walls and pool out.

I gave mine a micro polish after removing some casting marks and removed a small part of the roughness. I did not want to change the volume so it is very limited.

I would avoid the extrude hone as it removes considerable material.

Before you go spending a lot of money on the intake, I would suggest you wait for CTAE to finish up their CF manifold engineered for the S with forced induction.

Looking forward to it...
