Default pondering about TODA CAMS

so i read the article about a 303hp/192tq comptech s/c f20. They added the Toda A2 spec cams, and toda valvesprings. final results were 343hp/ 216tq. +40hp/ +24tq gains. this got me thinking..........

at that low boost and hp level i figure i may be able to match those gains or more at my power level 426hp @9psi. if i could get 40 or 50 hp, 475 at 9psi would be nasty. not to mention im sure the boost response and spool recovery would be much improved.

in this article they just do cams and springs. im assuming you dont have to do the reatiners and upgraded timing chain unless your going some serious abuse? im hoping my stock ap2 retainers would be sufficient. also do you think since i rev to 8500 that the stock valvetrain may be able to handle the toda cams if not revved above 8000? just thoughts. any input or advise is appreciated!!!!!!.............ps. i know i could just add boost or do pistons for that much but i am wanting to get some more miles out of this engine before i build it (30k on the clock, only boosted for 2k)

Turbo cams and blower cams are 2 different things.

Are the Toda cams just listed as FI cams?

im not sure but the huge lift on both the intake and the exhaust cams on the C2's might be promising for a turbo setup??? i know in my b18 i ran Civic Type R cams which are n/a but were night and day compared to stock b16 cams

as long as youve got a long runner manifold and not a log you will probably show gains. people use skunk2 pro1 cams on bseries turbo cars all the time and theyve made significant gains as long as theyre using an efficient exhaust manifold

Intake (lift / duration) 0.481" / 268º

Exhaust (lift / duration) 0.458" / 264º

these are the specs on b16 typeR cams and skunk2 pro1 are very very close to the same thing. pretty big lift on a 1.6 liter which did wonders on my turbo setup. would the biggest lift on outr engine not have the same effects?

That is smaller lift than our stock cams....

As for advertised duration vs duration at .050, it gets confusing. The only thing you can really compare accurately with different cams is duration at .050. What you posted has got to be advertised duration because it'd be way too reasonably high to be at .050.

I honestly would just keep stock cams. They simply work great and are proven.

I second that motion!! If you have a daily driver and not a full race/ drag car, stick with the ome cams...... spend the money somewhere else... like meth/water inj. diff, ECT.....

My two cents...
