Default Possibly buying SC'd S2k. need some info

Hey people. First post on the forum and hopefully this is the right place for it.

I just sold my 08 VW R32 (just really wasn't the car for me) and I'm looking to pick up something manual, lighter, RWD (or AWD) and preferably FI. I'd been looking at an 09 WRX but a couple tastefully modded S2000s caught my eye.

I could really see myself driving an s2000, but I'd want it to have a bit more power so I don't feel like I'm losing anything from the wrx (0-60 4.7 is sexy for the price range)

So heres a car I found that LOOKS good based on my research, but I thought I'd check with you guys to see if there is something I've missed:

2005 Vortech Supercharged S2000

Basically the info that I'm looking for is:
What do I need to check on the car to make sure its 100% mechanically perfect.
Its got 20k miles on it, but I assume the warrenty is gone due to the SC?
Any maintenance needed beyond the normal stuff to keep it running perfect?

Thanks in advance!

You much better off buying a used stock S2000 and putting in a S/C kit.

There might be a reason why he is selling it

Seems resonable, the kit is close to 5k, with clutch 1k and installation 1k. So it's got like 7 to 8k in upgrades. O5 is a good model as well. You can always go with a smaller pully and make big HP.

Nothing wrong with buying an already S/C'd S2000, as long as you do your home work by taking it to a mechanic to have everything checked out.

Though.. I would prefer to buy a boosted car from a site like S2Ki rather than Ebay, unless the seller is on the site. Because then you could PM some of the sellers local community members and get some more insight towards the car before you pull the trigger.

i bought my s2000 with a charger already on it. Id say do a compression test and leak down test to make sure th engine is ok. I doubt it would be bad.

Make sure all body panels have teh same vin number, to make sure no serious body damage has ever occured

I disagree, It looks like like a very good deal.... but the previous owner would need to provide some very solid feedback as to the past history of the car!!! I wouldnt buy straight off ebay

Seems like a pretty good deal. Check the carfax, it will tell you if it has been in a significant accident and other good info. I did it when I was looking for my S and it kept me from buying a spa yellow because it had been in (2) accidents! If it's close to you, take it to a mechanic you know and have them look at it. The vortechs are pretty good units, just have the mechanic make sure it runs and is installed correctly.

You will save money buying a car with a blower already on it over buying it new and installing yourself. I wouldn't be too crazy about buying a car (let alone a blown S2000) on ebay. Something about that seems wrong. Although I have bought three cars on auto trader.
Good luck!
