Default Precision 6262SP?

Well i have been going back and forth on my turbo choice (upgrading from a 35R), and after pretty much coming to the conclusion that a S366 wont fit on my manifold (valve cover and vtec solenoid clearence) I am thinking about running a journal bearing billet 6262SP, I know that chadd (spoolin) and adam (Siadam) just recently installed them and have had GREAT success, but i have heard horror stories in the past of PTE products failing often, and smoking right out of the box. I want to see how you guys like you 6262 (or other billet varients) what size feed are you using? and if you are using a restrictor or not?

o yeah, and any pics would be nice also!

Thanks alot

Jeremy

I'm still not convinced mine isn't defective in some way.

It seems to smoke here/there and still has an "odd" sound to it imo.

I'll live with it this year, and prolly send it off to be checked over winter break.

Do NOT get a journal bearing!
From what I have heard through the pipe, precision has acknowledged that the journal bearing turbos just wont work on our cars due to the high oil pressure. Certain S2000 distributors have had high failure rates and Precision has recommended that they only buy ball bearing units.
I myself have a precision 5965 with the same damn problem and have a new ball bearing 5965 going in this weekend to remedy the problem.

Go ball bearing or stick with Garrett!

I agree, I was told to get a BB from day one and I am glad I did. I have the 6165 S and I am very happy with it. I was doing HWY pulls yesterday and I was able to hit 20 psi before 5k on my AP1. I am not sure going to a 6262 or 6265 is much of an upgrade, the gt35 is a good turbo. I think these turbos spool very quick, I don't know why I read post stating there laggy, cause mines not.

Ive seen the journal bearings fail often enough, and wont buy them in the smaller sizes. Definitely go ball bearing and you should have no problems.

Ask Ken if your manifold will fit the S366. I think other guys have run them but its a tight fit.

I want an s366 but might be going to a 6262 as well because of clearance issues with the fr manifold. Might need to get a sidewinder manifold next

If you already have a 35r, just send the turbo to forced performance and get the billet wheel upgrades for them. They upgrade the compressor and you get both better spool AND more power! Also, if you want 6262 beating power get the HTA3586 upgrade. Both options are cheaper than having to buy a brand new turbo.

They do so well that most 35r based turbo kits for the EVO comes with the HTA compressor already on them instead of the standard 35r.
