As you have it positioned now, the air will come in from your charge pipe, hit a flat surface, turn, go into your core, primarily pass through the top channels, hit the wall of the other side of the end tank and then go through the cold charge pipe. I'd also suggest your charge pipes coming in towards the bottom of the core at oblique angles to force the air to use the entirety of the surface area of the core.

Take a look at this:

It's just 3 pieces of metal. You take a rectangle, cut the edges, bend it around a pipe and then mock it up to the core until you get the edges to meet and tack it up. Then you get another piece and just cut some metal to shape. Used 14 gauge 3003 aluminum.

Lastly, I really dig the cross member support. Did you end up putting nutserts in or something else? Also are you gonna have to clearance the framerail to get all that stuff to fit? The spot we chose is super tight and I had to hammer mine in a little
Thanks Steve, I do have a few end tank designs in mind but your pics gave me a little insight. I'm curious as to the size of your intercooler core though? You can't really tell from the pic but the end tanks do make a bit of a "/\" shape. The intercooler is 4", and the outside of the end tanks are 3" thick. That's the design I liked that looked the best, but you're right it might not be the most useful. I will do some rethinking on these though. I will f
As for the crossmember the 4" plate that will be welded to the beef up plate I spot welded onto the frame rail has 14mm nuts welded onto the back of it. Holesawed into the frame just big enough for the plate to sit flush. What do you mean about clearancing the frame rail?

The core is a 21x10x4.5 bell core. I had room to go with an even thicker core with slightly more width if I wanted to. I can take more pictures of my setup if you want but its real simple to make for good flow. The only thing I'd change about mine would be to run a slightly bigger core for what I'm trying to do.

I wonder if you'll notice anything different with that support bar there. It looks like that's .125 steel or thicker. Please let me know how it feels when you're done!

Edit: oh yeah and by the frame rail I meant towards the back when it angles inward towards the center of the car. Clearance along that rail is a pita.

Nice we are pretty well equal in core size. I'm 22x10x4, and yes it is a PITA to fit between the rails. Hence why I designed the tanks that way, I left the top big because I was going to put a vanjen clamp there on both sides and Vbands will go on the turbo/throttle body. Once I get back home I'll have a peak and give it some better thought though. I do really like the idea of "swooping" the piping in and out of the intercooler though. I'm pretty dead set on keeping the top of the intercooler level with the cooling plate though, so I'll see what I can do with a tank design to make that work.

With that support bar you hit the nail on the head at .125. I'm fairly confident it will work out perfect with the hood pins although like I said before it's going to require a custom cooling plate. Just a little shorter but it gave the intercooler a bit more room. Even without the gussets in it's already pretty stiff in there.

Made a lil progress, more with the shave then anything but I'll let the pics speak for themselves.

I won't bore you with bondo pics, but I did whip this up for the girlfriend while I was waiting for bondo to dry and procrastinating sanding.

I'm digging that firewall work. Looks great. Also, the flower looks really good.

Oh yeah, if you need cheaper fab stuff you should check out ace race parts. Rich over there will give you much better pricing than vibrant stuff normally would be.

I will check that out but I usually just deal with vibrant directly since I'm in Canada and the exchange rate causes major bleeding in the buttocks region right now.
Thanks for the kudos too!

Slight change in plans for the end tanks. Because of the odd twisting shape to make them fit between the frame rails it was difficult to come up with a curved design like I had hoped for. With limited space I think this will still look decent but my welder and I are going to leave these tacked for now. In a perfect world I'd love to have CNC'd end tanks but sometimes you gotta compromise. Test fit pics to follow shortly.

I was kinda of skeptical about the squared off end tanks at first... but this changed my mind. Time to lay some rod!

Looks like a really good fit! But with the charge pipe up that high will the hood close? I think in the middle would give you more hood clearance.
