Default Question about GReddy Turbo Kit and Gears

Hey guys, just had a few questions about the bolt on GReddy Turbo Kit and FD gears..

with a good re-tune getting 300-ish rwhp/ 220-ish ft tq, what could a potential quarter mile time be for my AP1? (with a pretty good launch and traction) this is more just for comparison/curiosity since I don't really run the 1320, and before I spend $4k.

and also, when do 4.44 gears stop being beneficial to a turbo car? up to 350 whp? and would 4.44's help or hinder a quarter mile time? I know they are almost the perfect ratio for NA cars, but what about FI?

If you're really interested in quarter mile times, the Greddy kit isn't the answer... It moves the power lower in the rpm range, which makes the car great in traffic (nudge the gas and surge forward). But it doesn't make the car seem much faster overall.

I've had mine on the car for almost a month, and I was out playing with it today... It's great for quick passing on the street, but power really dies off once you hit VTEC. Not what you'd want for the 1320 IMHO.

A good tuner can probably cure that, but really the Greddy kit seems primarily targeted at making the car more responsive, not winning races. Gears would probably still be OK at this power level.

With the greddy kit you are making 100 more HP than stock. When I was at around 300hp and with my 4.77's I shaved a full sec off my time.

Probably looking at mid to low 13's if you are good at the 1/4

A inline pro kit would be better for mid to top end power and 1/4 miles rather then the greddy for just low to mid range power ESP since the greddy turbo runs outa juice right around 300whp on our cars...an inline pro kit s2k vs a greddy kit s2k the at the same 300whp the inline pro kit will win easily.

I did a 13.0 at 106mph about 2 weeks ago. It was my first time at the strip.

I couldn't figure out how to launch it correctly. (too scared to blow my diff. or hurt something) I acctually almost stalled it once. I went from about 4k to 1.5k at the launch.

I would have made an AWESOME run on one of them, my R/T was .071!!! But I missed a shift and got a 14.2.

Seeing as this is my first time going down the 1/4 and only getting to go 3 times, I think I did fairly well. I'll do better next time.

All in all though drag racing is no where near as much fun as autoxing and tracking the car...

Congrats! Was that a stock AP2 + Greddy, or with other mods / tune etc? I'd love to run mine just to see the times, but haven't gotten it tuned yet.

Well, it's just the greddy kit (tuned, numbers are in my sig) plus a dual invidia exhaust. No gears or anything.

I have A LOT of other mods but nothing that makes me faster in a straight line. I'm all about curves.

thanks for the replies guys..

i was just looking at the greddy turbo kit b/c my friend gets deals on greddy stuff every once in a while. so for the price and it being a complete kit, it seems worth it compared to the inline pro kit. i agree if i had the money, the inline pro kit would be able to produce more power.

and i figured there was always little things i could do to the greddy kit to get a little more power out of it like a 3mm hg, port the wastegate, etc..

so is it a general consensus that 4.44 gears would still be beneficial in the 300-350 hp range on an AP1? if not, would i at least want to beef up my rear diff housing?

AFs2k - congrats! good times on the 1/4 for your first time

Thanks. I was trying to atleast beat my friend's 2010 GT Mustang which put down 13.8. The next week he went and bought a 2010 Roush stage 3 Supercharged Mustang...
