I have a 2003 with the Vortech. No other mods except for a new Spugen dual oval exhaust. I got it last November with 6000 miles on it and had to fly up to Trenton, NJ to pick it up. I drove it back home to Florida and now have just a tad over 20K miles on it. Two trips up to slay the Dragon in North Carolina. Absolutely no issues whatsoever. The Honda tuner king that I deal (2nrwerks) with has me convinced that this is going to be a very reliable vehicle with no worries.
However, once you start the additional mods for more HP, it all becomes a risk. If the bug starts to bite you, watch out and prepare for traveling with wrenches in hand. I dyno'd out at 288WHP and may go for a 9lb pulley with 650 injectors. This might get me to 325 WHP and that should be the end of my mods.
This car as it sits right now, will smoke about 98% of the vehicles on the road. It never fails to put a smile on my face every time I take it to limit. Frankly, any more power almost denotes me taking professional driving lessons to handle the drifting and sliding situations that occur without any kind of traction control. For example, last Friday a local member jumped on his S leaving the parking lot that we were meeting at. His is turbo'd with all kinds of mods that are probably getting about 425 WHP. He jumped on 1st, then 2nd but, once third gear kicked in, the car absolute lost it and I think we figured it did about 1 and a half out-of-control spins before landing in the level ditch on the side of the road. Crazy power!! Fortunately, no oncoming traffic and no curbs.
Nevertheless, braggin rights are sometimes that only merit that stimulate the need for more power. Remember, there is always someone who is going to have a faster car ............
