Thumbs up Quick Question about EGT's

So I have the EGT probe located about an inch post Turbo, I did not want to put a whole in my manifold for warranty reasons.

Usually WOT in low boost I see 1100-1200 WOT with AFR's high 11's to 12.0 leanest.

Last night while I was blowing by a Roush mustang in high boost (20lbs) in 5th gear (I basically did a pull from 5th gear about 5,000RPMS to redline, I saw EGTs of 1200-1250 but when I let off the gas I saw 1450F then as soon as I got back on the gas to for normal driving it immediatly started to go back down

This normal?

Think about what happens when you lift off the throttle in regards to your afr's and that should answer your question.

Yes it's normal. Remember that fuels like gasoline and ethanol also cool engine blocks and components. This applies to pistons as well; the incoming flow of fuel allows the piston to cool off and keep EGT's down
