Lmao. Better not drive more than 100 miles at a time or the turbo will literally fall off.

IMO 8 grand is not going to cut it. 5-6k for a turbo kit. 1k for clutch, you will need guages, ems, fuel etc etc then tuning and that's if everything goes right. You want the turbo reliable etc you had better up your budget to $10 grand minimum. Add more if someone installs for you.

8 grand will be enough. you dont have to buy new parts to have a good kit.

It can be done very nicely for 8k. Kings stage 1 kit for $3500, used AEM $700-$1100 depending on series 1 vs 2. $450 for ID 1000cc injectors, $100 290lph fuel pump from full-blown, $600 on ACT clutch kit, $200 for AEM wideband, $50 for mac boost solenoid, $100 on 3bar map sensor, $50 for boost gauge and $75 for dual gauge pod pillar and you're barely over 6 grand before tune. Install yourself and save a bundle on labor. Unsure of exhaust setup but HKS 3" single is $675 and a 3" test pipe can be had for $75-$100. Won't be the fastest turbo S out there but it'll be an awesome street car and will be built using quality parts.

Man must be nice having 8-10k to drop on mods.

At 8k I think I would just buy another car. Just save more or put a down payment on something.

But if I had a bunch of money why not? Wait If I had bunches of money would I be driving a S? hmmm. ponder..... Gotta love that S.

Yep if you want a log manifold and scour the used parts forum and do all the work yourself you may be able to do it for 8k.

The OP wants reliability and I have found that doesn't come cheap.

The only used part I quoted was the AEM EMS which come up often around here. Everything else is purchased new. Spend an extra grand on that and you can get an equal length. If he is able to install the kit on his own, he could have a fullblown stage 2 kit or something else similar for about 8k. Still not cheap by any means, but it can be done. Labor is what costs an arm and a leg.

this is gonna be a hard decision. I really want more power but want the realiabilty at the same time.
maybe I should just keep saving and buy things I would need to build up to a turbo kit ?
