I think the technical term for the coating is "Magic black gunk".

BTW, I have 2 new ring compressors for you to try out. ( without the self releasing ratchet feature of my last one.)

Picked up my bored block last week and took it to the factory for decking.

That's standard sleeves bored out to 87.5mm and a Supertech blockguard.

I'll start reassembly next weekend.

For those with a keen eye, you can see that the block surface is slightly depressed between the cylinders leaving a black telltale line. All the bores were also around 0.001" lower than the edge of the block.

It took about 0.004" material removal to get the block surface flat.

So Aus, any pictures of the assembly?

The block is at Parry's and Adam is taking care of it. Pick it up on Friday. Then the fun begins.

The pistons are coated with something not sure what.
Sorry if its already been covered but what about the big FRP cylinder wall scare that there arent any pistons with the magical OEM coating?

Did MAPerformance or wossner confirm that they work with OEM sleeves?

Rebuild is somewhat behind schedule and has dropped down the priority list a tad as I now have all the parts to get the car back on the road with the existing block.

Crank is in, next the pistons and rods.
